Celshot Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 I have a 99 ES 300, 38K. I need to replace the plugs. The car has a sticker stating Iridium plugs should only be used. I can only find them at the Lexus dealer here in Honolulu for $12.50 each. I can get platinum plugs for $4 each. Can I use the platinum plugs? What is the difference in plugs? Will the platinum plugs hurt the car? Celshot
SW03ES Posted July 26, 2003 Posted July 26, 2003 Basically the iridium plugs have a cleaner more precise spark, they last longer, and they retain their performance longer into their lifespan. I would stick with Iridium.
steviej Posted July 27, 2003 Posted July 27, 2003 toyota uses them too, see the parts guy there. The same plug may be cheaper there. also try: http://www.densoiridium.com/index.php they might have a list of dealers on your island. steviej
