cc6000
I am thinking about ordering a GS430 from Longo Lexus here in S. CA. They will put in a Sirius Satellite radio for free. I am not interested in the radio. However, I have a few questions: 1. They say the antenna will be installed behind the rearview mirror. How big is this thing? Will it look funny? 2. I want to do the DVD bypass trick listed in this forum. Will putting in the radio somehow mess with the simple wire cut/splice thing? 3. They will not discount the car if I opt not to put in the satellite radio. I am sure I do not want to pay for the monthly fees after the trial period. Is it worth the trouble getting it installed? any downside? Thanks. CC

Sirius radio they usually charge you 4-500 bucks for...if its worth paying that for the discount...I don't see a reason not too. If you don't mind me asking...what are you getting the car for? I'm looking into buying one next month...would like to know what others are paying. btw...if you like music at all...it'll be hard to not keep paying the monthly. Satellite radio is just too nice. I put one in my RX300 about a month ago...I haven't listened to regular radio since.

I guess I will get the radio for free. There is an option of paying $500 upfront for "lifetime" Sirius subscription. This may be an option. I think I get my money back after about 3 years. I hear that the music and songs are sometime not the original singer but repackaged songs. Longo is charging $2500 over invoice on the GS430- I think it come out to $53,900 or so. I can order the exact color I want- they will just order it from Japan.

Make sure you keep the car at least 3 years...once you get rid of the car...the lifetime subscription goes with it since that is what they mean by "lifetime". Its forever as long as you keep that receiver from what I understand. I have not heard anything but original music thus far...but maybe I'm not listening to a genre that has the repackaged songs. Good luck...hopefully next month I'll be able to be heading down that path myself. COME ON ACCOUNTANT!
jbarhorst2
Actually, Sirius will let you change your radio 3 times (for $75) if you buy the lifetime subscription. I have XM in my SC and my wife has Sirius in her RX. We like XM better, but I'm sure that others may have a different opinion. Tom
