bored7one4 Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Try disconnect the battery for 5 mins. Let us know how it goes. how do you reset your alarm. i found out i had a weak and dead battery. i went to sears and replace it but im still getting the alarm going off after i take the key out of the ignition.
bluestu Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I had the same problem. I had my battery replaced and the alarm still went off when I unlocked the car and opened the door. It occured to me that most shops hook up an auxilary battery while changing out batteries so the computer won't reset or malfunction. I disconnected both terminals on my battery for a couple of hours and allowed the computer to reset. I haven't had the problem since.
SKperformance Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Usually locking and unlocking the door with the key inserted resets the system.
MRubenzahl Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 My symptoms were that when I turn the car off and get out, in a few seconds (5-10), the alarm go off. Pressing the unlock button on the remote key stops it and I can them lock the car and set the alarm, but next time I start and stop the car, the same would happen. A quick disconnect of the battery did not fix it but a longer disconnect (over 5 minutes) seems to have fixed it. I also pressed the brake pedal while the battery was disconnected, for good measure. So far, so good. And by the way, it's a 10-mm nut holding the battery cable (saving you a trip back to the toolbox).
