Lexuses71 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 On my '98 LS 400, I have those 16" factory rims with the 5 "oval" holes. They have the plastic center caps with the "L" in he center. Recently, I noticed 3 of the 4 sound like they are getting loose. That is , when I roll slowly (with stereo off), I can hear them creaking, even moreso when I go over small potholes. For an otherwise bone-quiet car, this 'rattling' is driving me a bit looney. Is there anything I can put inside or along each caps edge to quiet these suckers down?
SKperformance Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Bend the metal clips out to hold it tighter
Guest Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Bend the metal clips out to hold it tighter ← I popped my center caps off to keep the tire shop doing the rotation from scratching them. Then I noticed there was masking tape around the inside going around the clips (see attached pic). Seemed like a good idea to add that extra little bit of tightness to the clips. Bending them out a little should work too.

Car is bone quiet except for this occassional irritating creaking sound.
