Broken Cd Changers

Recommended Posts

Like dozens of other members, my 94 SC300 cd changer is broken, and my question why are these CD changers so tempramental? Also did lexus intentionally make it impossible for an aftermarket system?

first of all it is a 1988 designed panasonic changer . the first year of any cd player in any vehiclkes. most usa owners didnt own a cd to play in it in 1988. so it was designed at the dawn of cd player in cars. but it was a design that they continued toput in the sc until 1998 10 years later. . pioneer on the other hand continued to improve their lexus factory changers in the ls, es . their first attempt in the fall 1989 ls400 also had desgn problems but p[ioneer kept reinventing their version to make entirely new designs in 1992 for es300, 1993 for ls400 1995 for the glovebox changers. so 3 generations improvement in the pioneer lexus changers but the sc continued with the first gernation panasonic. and yes lexus changers always have had communication lines that talk to the headunit from day 1 and the adapter companies were never able to crack the codes . finally with the 300 to 600 hundred dollar control boxes for video, ipod ,dvd players etc the codes have been broken recently but at a high price just to add a cd changer. yes they intentionally made the communication codes as almost all car manufactuers do in 2005. lexus was just 10 years ahead of their time.
