manhattanite Posted August 17, 2005 Share Posted August 17, 2005 I have a 1997 es300. The car drives smoothly but the engine sounds differently than it used it. It makes a loud buzzing sound which gets lounder as the car accelerates. Anyone here experience anything like it or know what the problem may be? Thanks. Be that a split flex section, worn out gasket, or loose bolts who knows. <cough> If you want to figure it out in a hurry without going to a shop, pour a 1/2 cup of ATF into one of the big vacuum lines (brake booster is easy). Give it a little rev when you pour it on so it doesn't die. It'll billow smoke for a while until it all burns out, but won't hurt anything. Always makes finding exhaust leaks easy.
