JG67
Hello Everyone, I have a 98 ES300 with 86K. Can anyone please advise on the location of the EGR valve? Is this something I can service on my own? Removal, cleaning, and re-installing? I try to do as much maintenance I can before goingto the professional. I am fairly well versed and can navigate around the engine bay. Greatly appreciate any advice.... JG
monarch
In either '98 or '99 the ES300 engine got variable valve timing and Toyota variable valve timing engines do not need or have an EGR valve.

melhadri
I also have a 98' ES300 and my EGR failed at 80k miles. Take a look at the attached pic to identify the EGR. I had my EGR manually cleaned by a mechanic after experiencing stalling, however, this didn't remedy the problem. Had to drop ~$350 to replace the joker. Most people consider cleaning the EGR a very simple task so it shouldn't cause you much pain to do it yourself. Try to use a the manual if you have one. Do a search and you will probably find many posts on this.
