  6. Just changed all my plugs to oem denso..I must say that at first, I was a bit apprehensive because of the location of 1,5,& 6. I toook a stab at it and prevailed. Small hands and arms help a great deal. I am anxious to try adjust my air flow meter just to test out a better throttle response...where is it? I have a 1998 es.. Many thanks
  7. I must say that I am very very impressed with your project. I hve a 98 ES and would love to attempt that kind of modification. Would you be so kind and share a write up? Even a wiring schematics would be a start. Nevertheless, kudos bro! thanks for sharing.
  8. Amen to that!!!! Good thing I have another car and still kickin at 158K. A 1992 toyota corolla dx..good o'le lil car that never wants to give up. Thanks again I feel so much better.. Happy 4th.
  9. Hello all! My 1998 ES is not starting. I'm suspecting it's the starter. For about the past two weeks, I have had some intermittent starting problem. Inserted the key, proceeded to start the engine then "A CLICK". I then remove the key, re-inserted and placed the gear on reverse, then park..the engine starts. It has been an intermittent problem since then. Tonight, however, I was getting ready to park the car inside the garage, the car won't start. I did my ritual from my past episode.....nothing.. Just a click, not clicking. Nevertheless, I ended up pushing the car inside the garage. The battery seems o.k. All the lights comes on. Could it possibly be the starter? Has anyone ever experienced this on their ES? :cries: Could I go to my local toyota dealer and buy this part? I really hope it's just the starter. I will dismattle it tomorrow and test it. Anyone has any recommendation on what else I can check? I really need some direction. As always, I appreciate any insight and direction on what do next...
  10. Appreciate that insight Eric. I will go ahead and make adjustments on the compressor. thanks again!!

  12. Hello Everyone, I have a 98 ES300 with 86K. Can anyone please advise on the location of the EGR valve? Is this something I can service on my own? Removal, cleaning, and re-installing? I try to do as much maintenance I can before goingto the professional. I am fairly well versed and can navigate around the engine bay. Greatly appreciate any advice.... JG
  13. Hello everyone..Quick question!! I have a 98 ES300. I am in Jacksonville, FL and it has been raining heavily during the afternoon since the beginning of the week. I noticed that my AC light indicator was flashing, then the cold air would disappear. I then turn off the ac, then turn i back on. All system go after that. Cold air is back. All this happened while I was driving very slowly, about 20 mph on a 1 1/2 inch of water for 5 minutes. Anyone have any insights on why the AC light would flash during these heavy rain? Any other day is fine. AC workd great. I do most my minor maintenance, had the AC recharged last month. Thanks in advance.. JG ?
  14. 1998 ES300 stock. Fastest was last weekend on I-295, Jacksonville,FL over the buckman bridge 135 mph. I didn't realize it until my wife started screaming to slow down..!!!! :) I had to pee very bad... :) 2004 S4 Avant Last night. East bound on J. Turner Butler in Jacksonville, FL,a 12 mi strech, 152 mph. I had to race this kid on a honda tuner..He was tailgating.. I hate that. I left him from cruising speed of 65 mph as if he was standing still....I don't get out much :)
  15. I concur with 98. I have 98 ES. Just replaced my battery and I was apprehensive in doing so because the dreaded radio CODE may be needed, which I do not have. I am the second owner of this previosuly enjoyed vehicle. I did not need it. The 97 and 98 does not require you to have a code. I bought a new battery and didn't install it for two days. I already took out the existing battery. The only thing I had to reset are my fav radio stations and the clock.....Rest your mind at ease.. No code needed. Hope this helps!!
  16. Hello. I am new to the site. 1998 ES300 White two tone color. 2nd owner of this previously enjoyed car. I got it for $13K on 5/27/04 with 58K miles at Earnie Palmers Toyota in Jacksonville, FL. I had it for a little over a year. No problems at all except the second day of possession, my garage door hinge sracthed the rear bumper. No biggie. I removed the rear bumper and took it to Bayside collision who did a fantastic job in color duplication within 24hrs. I mis-gauged the length of the car :( On 4/12/2005, I had a complete tranny flushed from Eurospec and topped off with synthetic ATF logging in 66K miles. Oil change every 4k miles with mobile 1 5/w30 synthetic. No mods. completely stock. I really don't know what to put or modify. I have browsed the site for ideas, but nothing struck me that would be significant. I do most of my scheduled maintenance, oil change etc... Anything I can do in my garage. I do know my mechanical and technical limitations, so I leave the rest to the PROS.. I am 35 yrs old. I pay $750 a year for two cars insurance with USAA..Great company. Pics are in my album. Pictures of my two cars, 1998 ES300 and 2004 S4 Avant. check it out.
  17. WOW!!! that pretty clean..Great job on the detailing.

  21. Hello. I have a 1998 ES300 and I can confidently share with you that there is no security code necessary. I recently purchased a new battery for the car. It sat in the garage for a whole day without the battery. My worse nightmare was that I may need that mysterious CODE. No worries!!! You don't need it. Once I installed the new battery, the only thing I had to reset are my favorite radio stations and the clock. The concensus around i here is that the early model, before 1997 and 98, only needed that security code. There you have it. I hope this helps your mind at ease and for the others that may have this type of inquiry.. Cheers
