advorak
Hi, Everyone, This morning, I noticed a buzzing/whining sound coming from the engine compartment of my AWD 2001 RX300 and assumed that it was the alternator. However, as I continued driving to work, the engine disengaged on me while I was in drive. After pulling over to the side of the road and turning off the engine for five minutes, I was able to start the car and drive normally again for about five minutes, before the transmission seemed to give again. Has anyone experienced this whining/disengaging transmission? Does this amount to my needing a new transmission, or might there----please, oh please---be an easier fix? Thanks, and Best, T
LexKid630
Your transmission is going out. i estimate you have at the most 5,000 miles before it dies totally in the middle of an intersection on going 90mph on the highway and lose control LOL DO not drive it anymore and get it fixed asap. Is your rx300 stil under warranty??? I hope; it can cost between $4500 and $5000 to fix it... Sorry; you're not alone!!
