tmv
I am looking to buy a 2000 LX 470 with 82K mi. on the odometer. What should I look out for and what should be checked? Thanks for any advice.
Unlisted
adjustable suspension and cd player. The cd player had a habit of jamiing on those and the suspension also should be checked. Turn the car on and close the doors, with the car in park put the height to high and raises. Then drive over 5 mph and it should automatically drop to neutral. There is alot more to check as well. Take it to a local Lexus dealer.

Take a look at the fluid for the hight control to see if it has been contaminated. The resevoir is located in the engine compartment forward of the passenger seat. I've heard reports of people mistaking this for a washer fluid resevoir and pouring wiper fluid into it. The vehicle should be in good condition at that mileage, the 90k service will be due soon. Depending on who you have do it, it will run around $1-2K. If it were me, I would check with Lexus to see if you can get any maintenance records, Lexus keeps them for all vehicles regardless of which dealer did the service. This will give you an indication of how well it was maintained.
Jim_Chow
Check the ih8mud 100-series site. IIRC, there was mention of some 2000 LX's having tranny problems.
