pearlwhite97ES Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 hi, last night i drained my tranny and then refilled with 3 quarts of tranny fluid thinking after checking i would add the other half or so . when i checked the level it appears to be half quart or so overfilled. Now im very confused, because my manual says about 3.75 quarts. The question is do I check level in park, neutral, or drive? running or not running? and also should I drain some out to bring it down to full level? ty 97 es in illinois
camlex Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 don't go by book. Park position, idling for 15-20 minit. Park in street where level is good.check level while car is ON(Running). Hope this helps.
Lexusfreak Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 Check tranny fluid on a level surface after it has reached operating temperature (20 - 30 mins). B)
pearlwhite97ES Posted May 22, 2005 Author Posted May 22, 2005 thanks for replies, should i drain the extra fluid out if it still reads 1/2 quart to full? will driving the car with to much tranny fluid hurt anything?
pearlwhite97ES Posted May 22, 2005 Author Posted May 22, 2005 its about a 1/4 above the mark. have you ever drain and filled your 97 cam? how much does it take if so? also i found a post about changing the coolant on a 92 es would the location of block drains be the same?
Lexusfreak Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 If it's 1/4 over, I wouldn't worry aabout it.....you will be fine. B)
