Ron in Atlanta
We just sold the Volvo and purchased a year-old RX 300. Had a hitch installed (3rd party - much less than dealer). We plan to tow our small 15 foot flats skiff quite a bit - the Everglades, Georgia Coast, Carolina Low Country, Tennessee River, etc. The boat, trailer and engine weigh in at about 1200 pounds. The question: Do we need to do anything special to the vehicle? E.g., transmission fluid cooler, beefed up suspension...? Or just go. RX300-BV
1200 pounds is safely under the max towing capacity of the RX. RX300s with the tow package did come with a larger radiator and I do believe a transmission cooler. Although you may not need the transmission cooler, it definitely wouldn't hurt to have it. No suspension mods would be needed. And with only 1200 pounds, the RX should still have decent power.
