Richard Tyler Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I just got this quote from a California Lexus dealer. Is this a rip off price for the 2006 GS 300 (RWD)? a) no navigation system, no upgraded sound, no back up camera B) standard wheels included c) moon roof included d) wheel locks included e) mats included $43879 + tax + misc = $48200 out of the door I believe the dealer invoice for this car is around $37752. MSRP is around $42,900. They say the demand is high, so they're asking me for $48,200, out of the door. Some questions: 1) What number do you suggest I should counter at? 2) Do you think if I wait til summer, the price will lower at all? 3) I know I can get a great deal on the 2005 model. Is the performance on the 2006 GS that much better than the 2005? If I go with the 2005 model, what will I lose out? Thanks.
monarch Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Try a large, high volume dealer like Lexus of Westminster or Longo Lexus in El Monte. Westminster is particularly aggressive about not losing a customer over price. Longo probably has the largest selection in the whole USA since they are 3 times larger than any other Lexus dealer, but may be more stingy on the price of a 2006. A 2005 model can probably be purchased for $3000-$5000 under MSRP
SW03ES Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Like I told you before, don't expect to pay under sticker. That said I dont believe theres any reason to pay OVER sticker for this car, the demand is not THAT high. They're essentially asking you to pay $900 or so over sticker. Counter with sticker, if they don't take it walk. I NEVER pay over MSRP for a car, thats underhanded pricing. We bought a Prius at the height of their popularity when waits here were 10 months long and they were going for $5k over sticker at some dealers and sticker at others, for MSRP and a wait of only 2 weeks just by driving 300 miles to get it. So, like monarch said look around. We also have a resident car broker from CA here on the site might wanna give him a ring, PM him his name is ronsadvice.
