i have 2 lexus rx300s.One of them gives 18 hwy and the other 13.9hwy.

The first rx has 24,000mi and the other 8500 mi . the second one has been in a bad accident but has been repaired. What is the cause of the poor gas mileage?

Personally i know it depends on how hard or easy i drive mine....right now i have gotten 20.8 mpg to a whole tank, drivin it relatively easy. That is city and interstate driving together.

The front end damage may have effected the Mass Airflow Sensor. This might make the air/fuel mixture rich? Have your dealer (or favorite Lexus mechanic) look at it. They can run electronic tests and determine if the fuel mixture is too rich.

I too have been hovering around the low 18mpg range. I use regular gas and have added a K&N air filter with a Tonado air adapter with no remarkable efficiency.
