Engine Mount Replacement

Recommended Posts

I did a search through past discussions, and didn't find any tutorials or pictorials for replacing mounts, and I think I need to replace mine. Car approaching 53k miles, 95 SC4. (Notice too much torque on the front end of the car when I tap on the gas sitting still in park.)

Does anyone know of or have a tutorial on changing mounts? How do I know if my trans mount needs changing, also?

Anyone who wants to blast through the steps for me, go for it.

So I guess nobody here knows how to replace engine mounts.  Hmmm. <_<

Have you done the search here?

Also, it seems like way to low mileage for a mount replace. Have you had it up on a rack?

its fairly simple but not its really tight and tricky. you need a universal jointed 14mm. and extensions. these are to take off the aluminum sub mounts. jack stands and a jack to raise the motor. dont raise the motor too much as this can rupture hoses, ac lines and intake flex hose. i actually ripped the flex, and had a minor leak in my ac line but quickly sealed it with JB weld hehe.. you have to loosen the 4 bolts on each side through cavities in the wheel well.

i have changed motor mounts on both the LS and SC and unfortunately the sc is alot harder to do.

I did do a search and didn't see the detail you guys just gave me. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

(I'll be having the shop check do it.)

It is low miles, but still 10 years old. It seems to me I get too much movement if sitting still (in park) and just tapping on the gas. Is this movement normal?

Thanks again for the replies.
