zigenfiver Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I have a 1992 LS400 and I have an error code 71 (EGR Malfunction). Is this most likely the EGR Valve? The dealership wants over $300 for the entire EGR set up, but I can get just the valve for under $100 on Ebay, so if a new valve cures the problem that's route I want to take. Has anyone had an error code 71?
larryp Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Possible causes: Short in EGR gas temp sensor circuit Short in VSV circuit for EGR EGR hose disconnected or valve stuck ECU You could take your chances and replace the EGR valve but that may not solve and then you'd still need to have it diagnosed. Good luck
