82DMC12
Hello List, this is my first post. last week i bought a 94 ES300 and the power antenna was bent and didn't want to go up or down. i am very mechanically inclined so i opted to attempt to fix it myself. i took the motor and antenna out and took apart the winding box. turns out the old plastic antenna wire was broken in there. i took the old stuff out and reassembled the motor and remounted. i ordered a new antenna from Lexus of Wayzata and followed instructions i found on this board about putting the antenna back in. well now the antenna will go in but the last six inches or so of the antenna will grind and the antenna won't go all the way down. it goes up just fine from there, but when it gets toward the bottom i can hear something grinding. i really took the antenna out and reinserted a few times, and it's not getting any better. what happened? btw, i live in Fargo, ND. i am a member of the MN DeLorean owner's club too... my Lexus is my new daily driver - a superb car! 82DMC12
Group, turns out the problem was the while plastic ring inside the motor was installed backwards and the cable was grinding on the lip. i turned it around, and now everything works properly.
