Maria20 Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 My driver's side HID went slowly out over a period of a couple of nights... new one is 340 bucks or so from shop. others cheaper. was HID on option? I've got a '98 GS 300 Maria
Neo Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Not sure I understand. HID was an option and not standard on 98 GS300s. Are you saying your OEM HID went out? Do you know if it is just bulbs or are the ballasts out? Replacement HID bulbs should definitely not be $340.
SKperformance Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 you need to figure out what is bad first the bulb or the ballsts by stiching the bulbs around

I don't know how to tell if it's the bulb or the ballast... The service shop (far away from an authorized Lexus dealer) thinks it's the bulb, not the "transformer." =-- so he says. --Maria
SKperformance Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 well you need to switch the bulbs to see which one is bad
Neo Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I don't know how to tell if it's the bulb or the ballast... Like SK said, swap the bulbs. One side is bad but the other is still good. If you swap the bulbs and the bulb lights, then the ballast is bad. If the bulb does not light, well that is fairly obvious. ;) :)
