Head Unit Frame

I have heard that the metra head unit kit does not match the rest of the plastic found on the vehicle. Has anyone just wrapped the visible portions of the plastic with some color-seat matched vinyl or leather to overcome this problem??

sand it and paint it flat black for a matte finish to match

but it is real crappy plastic
