Jacob
I feel some vibration in the cabin, and when slowing down I can feel the transmission downshifting just before the car stops (not very smooth). It sounds like the engine mounts need to be replaced, and my question is: would the transmission be affected if I don’t replace them soon? 1996 LS400, 119k Thanks Jacob
bicol-ini
hello, before you do the engine mount, do the transmission mount first, easy to do 8 bolts total to remove less than 30 mins of your time cost 40 bucks, youll be amazed at what you will see on the old transmission mount,
Jacob
Bicol-ini Thank you for your response. I had the transmission mount replaced a few months ago, which solved a slightly different problem. I wish the engine mounts were as easy to replace as the transmission’s. lexus400
The engine mounts are a PIA... not complicated, just difficult on the drivers side. I did mine @ 150k on my '91 and they looked pretty good and I know they were original. The idle is back to "engine is off"status though....
