Quote Copilot Sent by Copilot: A front timing cover leak in your 2012 Lexus RX350 is a known issue for some Toyota and Lexus models. Here are a few key points to consider: Common Issue: This problem often arises due to a blown gasket or sealant failure. It’s not uncommon for these leaks to develop over time. Repair Complexity: Fixing a timing cover leak can be quite labor-intensive. It typically involves removing significant parts of the engine, which can make it a costly repair. Estimates suggest it could take anywhere from 16 to 22 hours of labor. Cost: The cost of this repair can vary widely. Some owners report quotes around $2,500, but it can be less depending on the mechanic and location. Severity: While the leak might start small, it’s important to monitor it. If left unchecked, it could lead to more significant issues, such as oil loss and potential engine damage. DIY Fixes: Some minor leaks might be managed temporarily with products like BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak, which can restore the gasket. However, this is usually a short-term solution. Given the complexity and potential cost, it might be worth getting a second opinion

I live in Palm Springs California Grateful I am in the San Diego area, but I have taken our Lexus to a local Toyota dealership for some services. The cost is almost always lower than that of Lexus dealerships. You may also want to peruse yelp.com for comments about various independent auto repair shops.
