Ed Fenwick Posted August 26, 2023 Share Posted August 26, 2023 Aloha folks, my A/C after running well will not come back on after shut off for a 1/2 hour or so. The other day, it came on after 10-15 min. If I wait several hours it comes on fine. The mechanic mentioned several possible problems, one of which was low on Freon. I have had no trouble adding Freon to my Ford but this is a Lexus and am a little shy. Do you think it is worth a try or a poor diagnosis? Volleypop Posted August 26, 2023 Share Posted August 26, 2023 It does sound like the compressor may be overheating and then restarting after it cools down so perhaps it is low on freon. Volleypop Posted September 12, 2023 Share Posted September 12, 2023 Glad to hear Ed. It was the cheapest option to try and you might have a small leak so see how long it lasts. I think some of those refill cans may have a leak sealant in them so worst case might have to add some more in a few months. Regards.
