Very Hard Brake Pedal and the Vehicle does not start

Hi everyone,

I own a 2010 Lexus RX 350 with 116400 miles. When I put my foot on the Brake pedal to start, it is extremely hard and it does not start and it takes few minutes to start. I was told by the dealer that I may have a bad booster check valve or a bad booster which is going to cost me few hundred or more. Any feedback or recommendation is much appreciated.

That looks right although a failure at that mileage seems to be rare.
