laxdude3622 Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 Alright so I ordered some trunk lifts off ebay, and got them in on Friday, and I was in the process of putting them in, and I have removed one of the lifts which was hard as crap, then I run into a problem. When I'm trying to put the new ones on, I realize that I can't put it on there because i don't have a ball and socket bolt thing, that was attached on the old one. And I can find one, I went to Home Depot and Lowes, they didn't have it. And it is not possible to take the old one off. Can anyone help, anyone know what I am talking about?? Help Please! Thanks
laxdude3622 Posted October 16, 2004 Author Posted October 16, 2004 Nevermind figured it out. Thanks wilhunt I ordered trunk lifts through e-bay for $35.00 a pair. I had to use a Dremel tool to cut the ball and screw mount from the old lifts. They fit fine but had a lot of power. I would recommend try changing one side first. If you set your beeeer on the spoiler and hit the trunk opener it will launch the beer a bout 15 ft. But any other suggestions would greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like enough lifting power to compensate for additional sound deadening. Would you mind telling us what the brand name is?
laxdude3622 Posted October 18, 2004 Author Posted October 18, 2004 Well mine I think are called True Lifts, but I am not sure about wilhunt, but mine aren't that powerful as he says his were.
blueviol Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Well, I got my pair at around $50 including shipping from an eBay shop. They fit fine with some tweaking around the holding clips. Mine is not strong enough to launch a can of beer. When I open it from the inside, the trunk opens but sits there. It is only when I physically lift the trunk, it will open freely and stay up. Isn't this how the original used to work? The launching effect would be somewhat dangerous. kkk

SirSam Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 ROFL, that launch effect man. Mine don't work at all, I need to replace them also.
Thienn Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Make sure get the correct one; especially if you have a spoiler (it might not pop the trunk open due to the extra weight)
