Now What?

Recommended Posts

Well guys, for now I think I am done. I have finished changing the transmission oil from costly yuk to !Removed! red, flushed the radiator and added new coolant, new bulbs, and a fresh oil change with a new filter. Oh, by the way, on my 1994 ES, the oil filter is a b%^%$$##@###$ to repalce. I think you need a special tool or something. It is at an awkward angle and if your like Edward Scissor Hands, you're S.O.L.!!!!! I have to say that I went to Peruzzi and purchased Toyota 5W-30 Motor Oil and as I began to pour the oil, I noticed that it looked alittle different! Looked kind of like a Synthetic, but not. Oh well, the car drives freakin awesome and I am so happy I got rid of that sweat box vette.

The only other thing is the A/C. The dealer told me that it is not holding coolant and it is just a valve or something. But sometimes it will blow cold if I jiggle the hose going from the engine compartment into the firewall and into the glove box. Now what?

p.s. I will post a pic of my baby soon!!!!

Cool you should be GTG.

The Toyota oil is "exactly" this exxonmobil "drive clean" oil just rebadged.

Fair oil, nothing special, certainly not synthetic Id change it every 3-4K.

If you live in a very cold climate I would highly suggest a good synthetic like either Mobil 1 or Amsoil

Problems with the AC expansion valve are very common on the first generation ES 300's. I had to have the valve replaced on my wife's '94 ES this past April.

This is not a do-it-yourself job. The expansion valve is located adjacent to the evaporator under the dash. The refrigerant has to be evacuated to replace the valve. The system then should be leak tested before being recharged. Most AC repair people also recommend that the receiver-dryer be replaced at the same time.

The local Lexus dealer wanted $700.00 to do this repair. I had it done at an auto air specialist for about $430.00. The AC works better than it has in years.
