92SC400/89RX7TII
First off I would like to say thank you to whoever runs this forum. I am a memeber at RX7club.com also and I hope that this forum will help me as much as that one has. Anyways.......about the problem. I have a 92 SC400 it has just over 80k and every once and awhile when the I press the brake pedal the lights dim, and ocasionally the clock in the gauge cluster will reset. Also when the ABS system kicks in the lights will flicker with the anti lock system. I checked the battery connections and they are tight. The battery itself is around a year old. Minus a new stereo that I installed the car is stock. The problem occured before the stereo installation, just and FYI. I am very familiar with electronics in cars because I have been an installer for over 5 years now(I am only 23). To me the problem seems to lie in the brake system itself. I have not tested anything yet just because I dont drive the car very much and I spend alot of my time at work or working/modding my RX7. Mainly I am just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this problem or a similar problem. Since it is not consistent it is going to make it very hard to track down. Any help or words of advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Josh
AWJ
I found a bad ground off the stereo head unit and again at the cigarette lighter was the problem with my old SC. Fixed those and never had another problem under braking. When the bass hit though, the dimmer effect was in.
92SC400/89RX7TII
Thank you for your info! Just to be safe I will probably run new radio and cig lighter grounds down into the kick panel.
