coolwater Posted July 13, 2004 Share Posted July 13, 2004 I am considering "inching up" my current 16" on my 2000 ES to 17". Regarding Tirerack.com, they ship you pre-balanced tires with wheels. Does that mean I can just order them and change them myself at home? I read something about "lowering" when you go for bigger wheels. Is that really necessary? steviej Posted July 14, 2004 Share Posted July 14, 2004 I went from 16s to 18s and it didn't bother the speedo. I stayed within the OD rating. you shouldn't have any problem. Make sure you inquire about proper lug nuts and hub centering rings if needed. Tirerack is pretty good. If you are getting rims and tires, then they ship ready for you to just put on. If you haven't had one in a while, you might want to consider a 4 wheel alignment after the wheels are mounted properly. Should be less than a C-note. Lastly, you don't have to lower the car either. I did not, but many people do.
