  2. hey. i got a 97'.. coin holder... do you mean the top part of the center consul??? mine springs up. but i don't have any place to keep coin.. its just a flat place where i keep my wallet and reciepts etc... And as for closing it... all i can say is make sure that there isn't anything blocking... i.e. Keys or paper.

If you can show a pic.. that might help!

    And welcome to the club!

  3. I would go with the GS, they look great, it is still a good Looking year! There are more mods, and sportier without any mods. I drove a gs400 a few years back (I only had it one night :( ) It was smooth and FAST, got me hooked ever since! My es300 is just holding me over untill i can get a gs :) ive driven the 97 LS, its smoother than our es's but it wasn't fun as the GS. GO for the GS! Also check with the guys in the GS Forums, they might be able to tell you what ones have more problems. I still say go GS :D

  4. That reminded me of ME trying to catch up to a New Beatle... MY GOODNESS that thing was quick... BUT im sure it is a lot less weight being a 2 door and i think it may have been one of the new turbo'd or sport something... i dunno.. but it was QUICK! But heck guys! least we have them all beat from 60~100mph :)

  5. I drove my Girlfriends 2001 Civic yesterday because my car was getting brakes/oil/etc done.. and i HAD to go to school... it is SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE!!! I mean... her car is great, its a Honda, BUT it wasn't my Lexus. I missed the smooth ride, the quietness AND of course the Power! I never realize just how much power i have untill i drive her car, or my dad's 4-Runner or our Toyota Previa (minivan power!!! its actually quite peppy!). I would have to vote ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! I love my car!

  6. Well... im 21.. i like Long walks on the beach, fast food... Oh wait :) I go to school full time and work as a Bank Teller, and i rent out boats on the weekends (just little electric things to putt around in the local harbor). I got my 97' es300 as it was a recomendation to my father from our mechanic, and i make a monthly payment for it (Boy working for a car is hard). I've had it almost 6 months now and i LOVE IT!!! I still turn around to look at it when i walk into the house

  7. Hrmm.. That happend to my dads es250 Years ago... we just left it like that and eventually sold it (not because of that problem :P ) As for the grinding noise... I dunno... Scann through some old posts. i think there was something about fixing or replacing that. My 97' doesn't have an antena, so I don't know much, Sorry i couldn't do more for ya!

  8. Hrmm... It was a LONG time ago, back when my dad had an es250. I believe the First Lexus (at least one of the first in California) And that has been gone for a long time now. Well anyhoo... I think it was an oil Leak of some sort in his car that made white smoke come from the hood. Not a lot. but enough to get hot and burn in to smoke. Look around your engine around the HeadGasket (well where the 2 parts of the engine screw together) to see if there are any leaks. If it is all dirty in there... maybe clean the engine area then wait to see where it gets dirty first??? I dunno about cleaning that area, heck it may make it worse, but at least check around the engine for oil.

Sorry i tend to remble! Good luck

  9. Sounds like the dealer used an RF modulator.. My dad has one for his XM Sattalite Radio in his 4-Runner, and for my XM in my es300 i use the tape adaptor. I don't notice a difference at all so i too will buy an RF Modulaor. Maybe the quality of the modulator has something to do with the sound quality of the cd player?

  10. WELL.... im still getting 16miles per gallon... I'm wating till july to do get my oil/brakes/tuneup/etc... so hopefully that will ALL get it higher... As for the Tapping sound? well i don't really notice a tapping noise, but i do think one of my belts is loose as i get a belt rubbing noise... kinda anoying on a car that is suppose to be pretty quiet while in idle... My engine DOES rev high sometimes, even when stopped. I know this sounds kinda dumb.. but is your Air conditioning on? a/c? Cause that demands power from the engine. But a tapping noise.. i don't know what or where that would come from... Open your hood and listen for where it is comming from, then let us know :)

  12. Hey Guys,

Look back through other threads (like a few weeks or pages back) there are some threads about Faceplates for our cars... i think there is a link there too to buy them... but im too lazy right now to find it (if its there at all :P ) Im thinking about getting an Alpine with touch screen and Nav.. but its SUPER $$$ There are face plates out there made for our cars, its just finding one you like (or one at all). Also what some crafty LOC people have done is made their own face plate, not too shabby looking either!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
