  1. "Your vehicle checks out! AutoCheck's database for this 1993 Lexus SC400 (JT8UZ30CXP0034801) shows no negative titles or other problems. When reported to AutoCheck, these events can indicate serious past damage or other significant problems."

Below are the specific definitions for events that appear in this vehicle's report.

More information is available in the full

Emission/Safety Inspection Vehicle Use and EventCheck An approved emission testing station has inspected the vehicle to measure the amount of pollutants the vehicle emits into the environment.

Loan/Lien Vehicle Use and EventCheck A loan/lien is the legal right to take and hold or sell the vehicle of a debtor as security or payment for a debt. Normally, a vehicle will have a lien due to a loan or unpaid repair bill against the vehicle. Check with the seller to ensure that the lien has been satisfied.

Duplicate Title Vehicle Use and EventCheck The vehicle had a duplicate title issued by the DMV.

  2. I used AutoCheck which is very similar to Carfax and it came back with the following red flag:

Report Run Date: 2009-06-11 09:56:25.222 EDT

    Vehicle: 2006 Lexus GS300 (JTHBH96S565015733)

    1 Problem(s) Reported: 15 Title/Problem areas checked:

Frame Damage Title and ProblemCheck A wholesale Auto Auction has reported that the vehicle has frame damage, which can weaken the structure of the vehicle.

  3. It is a 9006 bulb.

There are two ways to get there.

    1. Elevate the front end and take off the entire underbelly splash guard from the side you want to get at. This means alot of screws and push/pop fasteners.

Then it is pretty self explanatory.

    or

    2. Turn the steering wheel totally to the fog light opposite of the one you want to get at. This will move the wheel so you can get at the fog light from the wheel well. You will need to remove the 4 10mm bolts from the 9 inch air deflector under the car just in front of the wheel. Then remove several of the 10mm bolts from inside the well well just behind the fog light. There are two large plastic fasterner that have to be removed as well. Turn with a large flathead screwdriver then pop them out. Once that is done, you pry the plastic wheel well liner away from the fender (don't worry, it is not attached or glued). Pry is back enough to get your hand in. The fog light is less than arm's length in. Reach in.

Grab the bulb and twist then gently. When the bulb is loose, pull it out of the housing. Then lead the bulb in the connector back to the opening where your arm is reaching in. You can then see the connector and the safety clip that must be pressed while pulling gently on the bulb housing to get it out of the connector. Insert the new bulb, then put the bulb back in the housing and twist again. Make sure the bulb is oriented so that when you twist the bulb to secure it in the housing, the connector is angled straight down. This helps keep water out of the connection.

Good luck, it is alot more easier than it sounds.

Thanks Steviej, I used scenerio number two and it worked out great for me. Turned out the fog light connector had come unplugged so all I had to do was plug the connector back in and it worked like a charm with the existing bulb.

  4. Ok I would appreciate some feedback, if possible, on paint reliability.

Does anyone have any information about which paint holds up the best in the long term? The two that I am trying to decide between are Silver or Black.

I live in the Southwest so snow really is not a factor. We do not have harsh winters so salts, solvents, etc. are not on the roadway. We also do not get a tremendous amount of rain. The only thing that we do get plenty of is sunshine and wind!

The vehicle will be garage kept.

My wife has a 2007 IS 250 with Black Sapphire Pearl (fancy name for dark blue) and the environmentally friendly paint is chipping off the front bumper and hood. She bought some sort of extra warranty but Lexus is not going to cover the repairs. Good luck with yours.

  5. I just purchased a Certified Pre Owned 2006 GS 300 ML system with built in Navigation System.

I have been trying to test out the built in DVD player on the Navigation unit but I cannot get the dvd picture to display on the screen. I've read the manuals & I've tried with the engine running, car in park & foot on the break. I've also tried all three screen modes but the picture button remains grayed out. I do hear the sound coming through the speakers, any suggestions?

you have the parking brake on?

That did it, thx for the tip.
