  1. I have a similar problem on the my old ls400, a mechanic told me there was a tiny leak and it dripped on to the exhaust manifold so it would dissapate before it hit the ground. Might be of some help to you.
  2. Hey, as i was doing my service today i came across something interesting. I thought i'd clean my K&N filter if it needed it and well ill let the pictures do the talking it is only 3MONTHS OLD!. Im not sure what the fliud is from, actually i have no idea. I also changed my spark plugs, to the iriduim X Plugs supposed to be the best from ngk. The guy i bought the car said he had changed the plugs too obviously not because they plugs were really messed up look like originals to me. I also gave the engine bay a quick clean too. Thanks in advance
  3. Any help on the Abs problem tried the search button but no luck so far.
  4. Haha finally i know thanks for that, i wonder why US models dont come with them? Thanks btw Ive got a new question for you guys I took my car to the mechanic and got my gearbox looked at as there was a strange thudding noise coming from it and now its stopped with a eninge light and trc off light permanantly on. All they said it wasnt the g/box and they checked the codes and it came up with codes 51 and 52. Well he said 51 is a (ABS Code) is Pump Motor or relay circuit fault what should i do or start with this problem (i didnt even know my car had ABS) and as for 52 he had no idea but i chacked for a list of codes it says the knock sensor is this correct? i suppose there is nothing i can do about that one Any info would be great again. Thanks
  5. Also the white button im reffering to is the one under the a/c button which is black with white writing.
  6. Heres the pic of the buttons Also i fixed the boot/trunk release problem it was a broken black wire in the harness in boot like advised above so thanks for that. Got to work on the side mirrors demisting/heaters now theres not much on the net about it. drivers side doesnt work and passenger just squeels. Its good when you fix those little annoying things So thanks for your help
  7. Hey there, i own a Celsior 1990 model i wanted to ask people who own the ls400 what some buttons translate too. There is a red button where the auto shifter is - what is it? The other button is a white button on the climate control what is that? Also i have a button that demists and defogs the passenger side mirror is it supposed to work on the drivers side? if so how do i get it working? Last question is my boot/trunk release doesnt work no more, all of sudden it just stopped i hear it clicking when i use the lever but no release. How do i fix it is it a relay problem where do i start? Thanks in advance
  8. wow i was stressing for no reason then. thank you for that
  9. sweet will check it out never heard of em before Or you can just drill them out. They serve no purpose except to hold the rotor on during production. The wheel lug nuts do all the work. Mine were stuck too. GDF so u r saying they serve no purpose at all? why am i trying to un screw them for? can i just un knock out the rotors off now?
  10. sweet will check it out never heard of em before
  11. hi guys im replacing my brake rotors on my my ls400 1990. I know what im doing but ive come to a major road block. there are two screws that need to be removed from the front of the rotor (neer wheel studs). They are stuck! ive tryed a thousand and 1 diffferent screwdrivers to fit but no luck. its strating to round the head of the screw. what should i do? any tricks or hints or anything people know of? cheers
  12. Before i get flamed i tried using the search button but only came up with the airbag suspension info. What im trying to find out is if the sc400 suspension will fit in a 90 ls400, im thinking of going coilovers as when i bought the car the the airbags struts were removed and something else was thrown in it and the suspension is shot sagging real bad on the rears especially. As im looking to put rims on it i wanted something adjustable. I ask about the sc400 because im finding it hard to find reputable brands that make ls400 coilovers, only found 1 brand and it was way too expensive (ridiculous) Throw some brands/ideas out want to know what you think. Also my car apparently is ready for the airbags to go back in so might be an option too. cheers in advance
  13. AFAIK, no one is really sure yet. I am not getting the engine light issue and my car dont have trac control, so I am not sure about that. I am going to try to get my throttle body cleaned soon and a new tranny mount and see what happens... if OK, then onto getting the PS leak repaired. Useless piece of junkyard fodder. Just too let you know that in Australia these cars are going for about$10k private sales and from a import dealer $13-15k. Not chump change lol Msut be different scenario in the US.
  14. Hey just read this topic and well guess what exact same symptoms but in my car ls400 89 (celsior) i get the engine light and the trc off light goes on. At first it wasnt that bad, but now my car stalls at the lights. Sure its the torque convertors? anyone fixed it and found it is the answer? oh and also i cant turn the trc on or off when its in this state too.
  15. anyone help me with the suspension?
  16. thanks for that, that is real useful info, sort of stuff i wanted to know not weather im crazy or not :P So with the ball joints are any mods needed for that (just for clarification)? so thats it just source that out and all in a few hours im done hey sounds better by the minute. Thanks again
  17. i have the phillips and im happy with them. I can upload photos if you want me too
  18. even though still a great upgrade. Also the transmission has been rebuilt so rule that out, got new coilovers, so thats out. Ive got money for a rainy day So anyone with any info on the topic? Ive read there is adapter plates for the calipers. So its looking like a good upgrade just not sure about the brake fluid delivery
  19. I need new rims anyway, the ones on there are currently "floating" rims eeek As for the answer of why would i spend the money, the price you mentioned is in the U.S dollar the Aussie dollar is *BLEEP* in comparison. So the way i see it if spend say a extra $450 on an upgrade then that is money well worth spent, plus i like to upgrade my car to make it better thats just what i do. So what if its 20 years old these new supra brakes will last for another 20 lol, if i can get them too fit. Im not sure if anyone has experienced the braking power of these 4pots but its incredible. Another reason im trying to go down this path
  20. yeah sorry, the suspension airbags sorry i didnt clarify that earlier on. Does anyone know where they are located? Ive done a bit of research and was told that there on there own circuit and removing the wiring and the lot wont effect any sensors or ecu. I just cant find where the comressors are though
  21. Hi again, i bought the car and it had the suspension airbags removed, but still has all the electricals in it and the im not sure if it has the compressors still in it. I was thinking of removing everything, i have bought a repair manual from the uk and it doesnt have the total airbag removal and ive searched everywhere it seems and no one has done a guide of the how to, which i will do if it hasn been done. Any suggestions? thanks
  22. Hi there, im a new LS400 owner of 1990 im an Aussie owner :) Ive come to the problem now that my brake discs and pads are shot. The discs have no machining left on them. As i have intentions do performance mods down the track, i have noticed the brakes are more then sad when in working condition. So an upgrade is in order. I have investigated buying the top the brake brands and in Australia but is way too expensive. So i was thinking about putting Supra JZA80 Big brakes 4pot caliper combo i can get the set brand new here for $800. which is the same as new discs only from the top brands here. Putting standard discs works out to be $450. So you can see why im going down the path. I have researched as much as i can do with my knowledge the discs will fit on fine, my concerns are the caliper bolt holes lining up, also the hub cover worries me aswell. Im going to put braided lines in aswell. Im also not sure about the brake fluid delivery would it be sufficient for four pots. If there is anything else let me know thanks in advance
  23. That is so true. I know i'm new to this forum in particular, but coming from experience - everyone is wasting there time on this guy. He will never get it, his responses in particular, the last couple just show his immaturity. I say he is 16 - 18 digging himself a deeper hole. Ive seen many of these threads go on for weeks.
