ok this is weird....im driving in the evening, i look at my CCU and my "rear" and "front" defroster lights are lit up like they are supposed to be.

So the lights were never burnt out...something must be loose back there. Actually here is something that has nothing to do with it BUT my sidemarker light was out and after I changed it today, the CCU lights started to work. Whatever....at least I didnt have to take out the CCU to replace 2 bulbs that were never really burnt out in the first place.

any idea of what it cost to replace the busted wire at the dealer since you use to be a tech helper??

SK- the only part of the wire I see is below the latch (in the car)...i cant see it under the hood etc....

well i tried pulling out the CCU and I just couldnt do it. i spent about 1 hour trying and I just gave up...ill just pay a mechanic an hour worth of labor to replace the 2 bulbs. Hopefully it wont be more than $60 for labor. Then the bulbs to :(

sigh....$80 to replace 2 bulbs....

great...should be easy enough. I have a after market radio in my car so the kit is easy to pull out. Shouldnt be hard to get to CCU. Man, $11 for the bulbs. :(

this was the project i was talking about....when do these go on sale?

the lexus store was supposed to be carrying the JDM tail lights for 2nd generations GS. You know, with the all white on the bottom of the tail light. Retails for $1300.

A OEM version was being designed/tested and was gonna retail for $300...what happened to this project?

The "rear" and "front" defroster buttons on the control panel no longer light up at night.

Is there a procedure for taking out the dash to replace the bulbs?

Do each of them have there own bulbs?

doorlock stopped working...doesnt lock/unlock with remote..gotta lock manually

when you buy the part, are you getting the actuator also or is that a separate part?

dealer wants $250 for door lock assembly kit :(

I can't believe how similar these 2 cars are. Its very hard to tell them apart. Tail lights look similar and except for the 2 DRL in the front of the 06 GS, the front even looks the same.

come on lexus engineers, I know you could have come up with a better/diff design!

yea cause i finally got it to close. Had to play with the hood latch a bunch of times and then it just snapped back to its original location and the hood finally locked into place.

Like you said, the wire is busted. Its not snapping into place. Any idea of what it costs to fix this?

is this something i should go to dealer to fix or can a regular mechanic fix it?

So if the "filler" is being removed each time I wash the car, then there is really no permanent way of removing swirls unless I wash and buff out car each week?

I usually wash the car myself. Car wash soap from Autozone and a soft cloth.

front hood will not lock. used wd40 and another product and no luck. i must have pushed the hood down 100+ times and it just wont lock. The unlock thing you push out to open the hood is hanging down a bit. Dad said the wire going to the part that locks the hood when you push it down has been damaged or "cut".

Any idea of what this part might go for? What should I try to do myself before taking to a mechanic....looked pretty hard to take apart.

4 detailers....3 products..and still cant remove swirls permanently from my black 98 gs300. Looks so great when it leaves detailer. One car wash later, they are back. What to do, what to do?

its ok...nice ride..but i would have picked diff. rims....deep dish is more MY style...its hard to find nice looking wheels for the new GS....still nice ride though..

having same problem....will give this pb blaster a shot...

passenger side door does not lock/unlock using remote. have to close it manually...

also, it does not lock/unlock using switch in the car...

should i check wiring, clean actuator before purchasing another actuator for $200?

my 98 gs300 has 75000 miles and has been painted/repaired once before because of hail damage. The blue book value on it is $13,500. I have seen ebay ads and local ads in the paper selling the same model/year with like 100,000+ miles for like $15,000+ Whats up with that?

Should I aim for a higher price or be happy with the blue book value. Friend said he will pay blue book but if i could get more, why not right? But im not out to rip anyone off and like I said, once I tell somone else that the car has been painted because of hail damage, they will not pay more than blue book value. I see them paying less....

ive wanted these for soooo long but couldnt afford to pay $1300!

i had this problem months back...spark plugs needed replaced

usually when i press the "lock key" on my keys, i hear a beep and all the doors lock.

now when i press the lock key, i dont hear a beep first of all, but all the doors lock and then 5 seconds later i hear another sound as if the doors locked again. the dome light stays on and turns off say 10 seconds later....

what did i do to make this happen? did i disable the alarm by pressing a certain combination on my keys? (holding down the unlock button to long etc)

whats funny about this is, my passenger side door does not lock while its in this "disable" mode....researched, might be actuator...but why does it lock when usual locking technique is in place (hearing the beep when locking doors)

This is a programmable feature. Programming of the light reminder feature is only available by using a Lexus Scantool.

Available functions:

Light Reminder is by default off. It can be turned on with the scantool. Additionally, the reminder frequency can be set to fast, normal or slow and the volume can be set to small, medium, or large.

my 98 gs300 does make any sound to let me know that i left my headlights on....is this normal?

Other then Seafoam, can i just purchase some fuel injector cleaner and pour it in the gas tank?

What should I get to clean the throttle body etc?

I called my mechanic and he said he wants $95 to do a full cleaning...meaning clean fuel injectors (probably by just pouring stuff in the gas tank), clean throttle body etc....sounds like stuff i can do myself

anybody got intructions on cleaning the throttle body? where is it on the engine?
