  1. yesterday i drained the trans fluid from my 97' lexus es300, maybe 3 quarts came out. when i went to refill thru the dipstick tube it kept wanting to overflow, i was using a funnel and was pouring very slowly and it didnt seem to matter, i had to pour like 3-4 ounces at a time then wait then pour again. i dont understand why i just couldnt pou ir in like another car, even my honda doesnt do this. does anyone know why this happened and what i can do if anything so the next time i can just fill it up alot faster.
  2. what type of fluid is to be used dexron 3 or toyota type IV , i read both , i want the best one , this is a new car to me and i am not sure how to change the fluid, but i want the best type recommended. any additional info would be appreciated, thanks
  3. I just purchased a beautiful 1997 lexus es300 w/ 73k on it from the original owner. i am used to doing as much of my own work as possible, i read in the manual that dexron 3 is recommended and i read online that toyota type IV is the only fluid to use? im confused and want to use the best possible fluid. if you can tell me and if anyone has any other advice for this procedure it would be greatly appreciated. i also called the toyota dealer and the parts guy didnt seem to know, he also said after i asked, that he never heard of the trans filters being changed, is this true? because ive always changed mine on my other vehicles.
