  1. just browsing through this forum and what i got out of this is if you swap in the 1jzgte then your maxspeed will be 119 mph without this HKS Speed Limit Defencer? btw 156mph with stock sc300 5spd with BFI
  2. thanks, but to add, first on the tranny part, my w58 needs rebuilt, but the clip is comes with an auto transmission. so to get the r154 im basically gona have to buy one by itself, any suggestions on a good site to get one at? how much should i expect to pay? also on the guage cluster part domlee you say you dont know anyone who successfully retrofitted it, well im thinking most people who tried had a US spec everything. anyone try it with a 1jz and ecu from a soarer. and does anyone know if a jdm cluster will physically slide in to the US cluster spot? thanks
  3. well, i have posted here in awhile, im almost on my 11th month here in Iraq, weve been busy lately, but now after this year of research im just about to purchase a soarer front half from jarco. I still have questions though, which im sure I will have plenty until i turn that key and it starts up. But this is mainly out to those who have done a 1jz swap with a soarer clip. i apoligize if these questions are answered in here somewhere but ive gone through so many forums focusing on different questions i may have come accross the answers when i wasnt looking for them and overlooked. 1. I plan on using the digital guage cluster, with the soarer ecu and engine. anybody know of any specific wiring problems i might incur bringing those over to my sc300? Like anything that will have issues with the cluster, or something. 2. my ac doesnt work on my car, will i be able to use the jdm A/C system directly? 3.will my stock fuel pump be good enough for 400 rwhp, what about the jdm soarer fuel pump? 4.my sc300 tranny needs a rebuild, would it be smarter to go with the r154 tranny. anybody know a good place to pick one up(the front half im getting is auto), or would it be better to just rebuild my w58? 5.and lastly, the best place for a good deal for a 1jz single turbo manifold? thanks, i appreciate all the help i can get, limited on free time out here
  4. ive seen pics of a soarer with a spoiler that looks just like the stock supra wing, acually looked kind of clean, a lil too much tho i think, i have the pic but im in iraq so it might be a week b4 i can post or more
  5. the displacement is the same when you convert the 1jz to the 1.5 jz, thats when it becomes 3.0, and then i think i heard that the 1jz head on the 2jz bottom end revs higher than with the 2jz head because the cams. And i was told i have to buy a 1jz turbo manifold and cant use a 2jz turbo manifold, because the exhaust manifold ports for the 1jzgte is different than the 2jzgte, and that only the 1jzfe has different valve sizes. p.s. is that true that to upgrade the 1jz to a single turbo you cant use a 2jzgte turbo manifold?
  6. 89 integ, yea i was that honda guy who always tried to race you, but i had no rice on my car so... ..
  7. hey finish line, i was wondering if you could please go into more detail on why you prefer the 1jz bottom end, i was wondering if you had a 1jz and a 2jz bottom end next to eachother, why wouldnt you make the 1.5, thanks
  8. i am 99% sure that the front calipers have the same performance (about the same as a ferrari F40)
  9. well i was thinking that this swap would be cost effective because i assumed you could use the ge bottom end, if you buy the 1jz, and use your 2jzge bottom end, it seems you would have a cheaper version of the 2jzgte, but ive heard the 1jz head flows better, and like you said revs faster. i know the ge doesnt have oil taps for the turbos, and no oil squirters, is that to big of a handicap to overcome, i mean the oil tap should be easy right?, just would you need the oil squirters, and if so could you do it/how. another question is how much would single turbo manifold run for the 1jz, or does it have to be made? and last you said you preferred the 1jz bottom end, can you go more in dept with that? thanks
  10. the head gaskets are the same, The only real difference in the ge and gte block is the oil squirters arent installed in the GE blocks and there isnt any taps for oil to the turbos, so they are equally strong. therefore i would see it makes perfect sense to make the 1.5jz (make ur 1jz a 3.0)instead of just througing in the 1jz, even the forged rods are the same in the lineup. The 1jz heads are supposed to have better flow than the 2jzgte also. and as jzz30 said, the 1jz is still being made, and since before the 2j, so there out there, just without as much support. 2jzge to lower the compression theres a head gasket out that lowers the compression to 8.5 or something. anything incorrect in my info i transfer the blame to the sites i researched at, but they say the same thing so......
  11. ive heard theres not really any difference between putting the aristo 2jzgte motor, or the supra 2jzgte motor in, im sure youll have to do the same things, like wiring harness crap and stuff
  12. ive heard that in japan when a 1jz block starts getting worn and people rebuild they throw on the 2jz block for the added displacement, 3.0, i dont know if theres any or much difference betweend the 2jzgte heads and the 1jzgte heads, but they call that swap the 1.5jzgte. since the 1jz engine is so much cheaper it seems like a good idea to get and through you bock on it and to save some cash. i dont know much else on it though(except the NA and the TT blocks are the exact same according to this source)
  13. yea if you go with a different size piping than the inlet then thats where you get that real ricy sound like from a bike or something, the air wont flow as smooth when it hits the point in which it changes into the muffler creating that sound. Thats the reason some guy gave me anyway when i was asking at a shop...
  14. i know this isnt in LA but i lived in LA and still went here so its not that far, Orange County Auto Body, i think the number is 7145303558, and its in garden grove. the shops very professional, not very cheap but price is low for quality. he did some pretty krazie work on my car. it was bashed up, and he restored the damage, and put a kit on for me, custom small little side vent on front fender(all metal), and since all SC kits are fiberglass, (except one ugly cf bumper) we wanted something sturdy on the front. he cut the fiberglass kit in half horizontally, and molded it to the upper part of the stock polyurethane front bumper, did a really clean job. No one could tell that its two completely different bumpers made of different materials molded together. i thought it was awesome anyways. Ask for John, and you can tell him Bryan with the Black SC sent you and i said he would give you a discount. he said hed give my friends around 10% off, well were forum friends right?
  15. im going to pick up a 2jzgte engine and go for the swap, i want to go for about 420-450 hp, and i am pretty clueless on compression issues. i slightly understand that raising the compresion can get you more bang for your boost, but higher possibility for knocking and detonation. well i have no idea really what i should be looking for. i want reliable power probably more than anything, ill have the engine taken apart, but when i put it back together what compression should i be going for and what do i need to do to achieve that, i.e pistons, headgaskets. also im probably going to upgrade to a single turbo if i got the dollars, but would that matter when building the internals as oppossed to running the tt setup? any charts, what does your setups look like? thanks
