  1. No, it should have ML / Nav for that price. That's a dealer price, private party shouldn't get more than $28k for a stripper GS like that.
  2. try Autolenders.com, if you live in NJ. They have more returned lease GS's than anyone else. If you look hard enough you can find a Loaded GS 300 awd, including ML and nav for around $35-36 with under 30,000 miles. One guy here said he got such a car for like $31,000, but on the interwebs everyone always gets a better deal than you. anywhoo, i paid $35,500 for an O6 GS 300 awd with ML / nav / rain sensing / rear sunshade / afs / heated vented etc etc, every option except radar cruise / parking sensors (i dont think 300s have it) consider that a year and a half ago this thing stickered for $50,000. No one buys them.
  3. Very handsome automobile, good quiet ride, good gas mileage.... All the reasons I purchased my 07 GS350. But, not a lot of attention to details in these vehicles. Nor are they the best Luxury Sedan in the stable for the money you will spend. Check out the Acura RL... It is a MUCH better vehicle. No question about it. Only problem with it is its uninspired exterior design. RL is a very good deal, the depreciate dramatically. You could get a low miles 06 for well under $30,000. but that's the problem, no one wants them. I tested a couple, i dont agree that it's MUCH better. the interior on the GS is much more subtle, elegant. The RL does have a lot more power (well, compared to my GS300 but your 350 is about equal) but it's a real guzzler actually, at 16/24. Direct Injection injection rules in the GS.
  4. yeah, it really does in the real world too. I get 29-30 highway on my gs300 awd. That's with mostly going 55-65 on cruise where i could. city is ok, drops down to 22 or so. so i try to just save it for big highway runs and roll in my old civic si for around town which does 27 city.
  5. google Carmax complaints. Endless horror stories about them. I wouldn't buy a can of Coke from those guys
  6. Both the ES 350 and RX 350 loaners I drove had some vague creaks coming from the dash, so i guess all of them do it. These were 08 models, and very low miles. I guess you have to get the LS if you dont want a rattle cart. Could be that because the wind/road/engine noise is so subdued, that you hear every other minor noise that is masked in most cars. I bet the old ones were better quality though.
  7. 2006 GS 300 AWD with 21,000 At low speeds, like parking lots and surface streets, I can hear several creaks coming from the lower left dash around the 'pod' area, the moonroof (ONLY with sunshade open) and the console generally creaks. It's driving me crazy, the car is super quiet, so you can hear every single squiggle this thing makes. I already had the dealer fix the right side A-pillar rattle, but now i'm on the verge of ripping out the whole dash and injecting foam rubber or something into every single crevice until it shuts up. Anyone else having these problems? If I wanted a squeaky dash i would have bought an 8 year old Nissan or something.
  8. This price HAS to include a trade. You cannot find a mint '06 GS 300 AWD with 27k and ML / Nav heated / cooled seats/ rear sunshade/ AFS / Headlight washers / Moonroof / etc etc etc for less than $38,000 ANYwhere online. I hate message boards, just loaded with people making unsubstantiated claims about ridiculous deals that are either completely false or leave out very important parts of the story. 10. do you have the Radar cruise / pre collision system too?
  11. well, i just bought the same car, with about 20,000 miles, and paid $35,500. Mine was flawless (ok i had to take it in to get the A-pillar rattle fixed, but that was warranty work), you literally cannot tell from new. But, still i shelled out $5000 more, so either I got ripped off, or you got an unreal deal. BTW I cannot find that exact car for less than $38 - 40k on autotrader. Also, if you run it through edmunds you'll get a TMV price from the dealer of around $40,000. Hope there's nothing wrong with it, those early problems with the sunroof/mirrors are not a good sign. Once these cars start to deteriorate, they are insanely complex/expensive to fix. And some of them just never seem to be quite right.
  12. I'd reply with my now patented acerbic wit, but the Mods removed all my prior threads, so I'll try not to ruin it for you. I have an '06 GS 300, with the rattly dash. Not fixable. I think Lexus may be going the way of Mercedes. Sacrificing solidity for style, bank vault build for bling. Took Benz 50 years to destroy their brand image with chopped roof, chrome rimmed 500 hp ridiculous mobiles, while Lexus chose to trash it in only 15 years or so. See, the Japanese are faster and better at everything.
  13. No matter what price you negotiate from the dealer new, you will lose about $15k in depreciation in 2 years. A new luxury car is the worst value for your money. Either buy an '06 300/430 or wait a couple years to get an '08. you can get a low mileage 2year old off-lease and get the same level of service from the dealer. Factory warrantee will transfer in most cases.
  14. I just got my '06 gs 300 awd with 20k, for $35,500. Mint, cant tell from new. It's got nav/Mark L. , adaptive headlights, rear sunshade, moonroof, DVD system, backup camera, headlamp washers, etc etc Everything except radar cruise and parking sensors. New this was over 50k just a year and a half ago.
  15. I don't get why so many 'professional' automotive journalists pan the GS, place it 3rd or 4th in all the major 'comparo' tests. They always hate the handling, call the ride 'jiggly and annoying' which may be due to standard run-flats, but usually say the styling is dull. They go on to praise the M35's styling, which is total bs. he M35 looks tall, awkward, and has the worst looking !Removed! since Rosie Odonnel. If you park all 5 competitors together, there's no way a sane person could claim any of them looked better than the G. It's got that classic long hood short deck stance with the big swoopy cabin and nicely chiseled front end. The near fast back styling rocks. The 5 looks like the designer Chris Bangle got ahold of some bad acid before he drew it, and then clay modeler might have had a bad ice cube or two in his drink prior to transforming it to 3 dimensions. It's godawful. The only reason the 5 sells is it's a BMW, and those blue propeller status addicts will buy anything with the right logo. Even a Bangle Mangle. The RL is nice, balanced, and generic. The A6 is the only other good shape, but it seems like we've seen it around for a long time. What the hell? Why doesn't the G get props for it's looks? Am I blind?
  16. do NOT go to carmax http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/carmax-c2216.html I just got a used off-lease GS 300 awd from AutoLenders. They were quite decent, as car dealers go. Tons of ultra clean off-lease high end cars. Don't know if they are in your area. I would have preferred RWD, but this one came up with only 20k in the color combo I wanted. It's got nav, Mark L, etc.. everything except radar cruise and parking sensors. It's great, maybe a little dull after the novelty of all the toys wears off. I'm getting around 25mpg, amazing for a 3700 luxury awd car with decent power. Every review of the GS 300 (only made for 2006, then they came out with the GS 350) whines that there's not enough grunt off the line. I disagree. With premium over $4/gal. I'll take a small 3.0 and 25 mpg. It's faster than most cars, just don't go picking on M35's or 5 series. just dont buy from carmax. http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/carmax-c2216.html
  17. I have an '06 GS 300 AWD with 21k. Tires are General Exclaim UHP 225/50 ZR17 94W. I don't know if they are original equipment. I don't think these are run flat, according to the website http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...del=Exclaim+UHP But I thought all AWD Gs came with run flat standard? Anyway, the only real complaint I have is tire noise, although all the reviews mention how quiet the tire is. I just drove a courtesy ES 350 for a few days, and noted that it had almost no tire noise. I bought my GS off - lease, for massive discount compared to new. Maybe the prior owner already replaced the run flats?
  18. I just got my wife a 2006 gs300 awd with 19k miles fully loaded except the rear sunshade for $$32,600. Still yours is a good deal. Could have bargained a bit more Your hav nav and Mark Levinson? Did you have a trade? I did not. Man, it seems like someone always gets a better deal somewhere. This was at a no haggle Auto liquidation center, but it is a CPO. it has nav, mark levinson, everything except the rear sunshade. I din't trade anything. But i paid cash no finance. Did you get the radar cruise and pre-collision too? I never see GSs with that option.
  19. I just took it out yesterday for the trad "Sunday afternoon drive". It is flawless. I loaded the Mark L. up with my best driving CDs, set the climate control, opened the moonroof and windows with one touch, the voice guided sat nav sent me turn by turn to a choice new mountain driving road. I don't get why the enthusiast press pans it. they whine about not enough power (allegedly rectified with the GS 350) the handling, the ride is too soft, the styling is 'hunchbacked', they usually put the M35, BMW 5 series, E-Class ahead of it. I say 0-60 in around 6 seconds for a 3700 lb AWD luxury car is damn fast. When I punch it off the line it feels like 4 hooks grabbing into the pavement and catapulting towards the horizon. Half the time I'm still over cooking it and have to back off. Personally I LOVE the styling, it's much better than the 5-series, which, if it were not a BMW would be deemed ugly. The M looks awkward, tall and stubby and the rear-end looks like a child built it out of legos and brite lites. The E-class is ok, but it's still a rounded 3box. Yawn. I think the new GS really nailed it with an aggressive yet elegant shape. It looks like nothing else, and no, you can't see out the back window but screw it, it looks cool. Like a little limo with a mild chop. Love the long hood/short trunk proportions. Then there's the interior. The 5 series interiors suck, and everyone knows it. Never sat in a E, the M is actually pretty nice, but I think the GS has an excellent interface for accessing it's endless array of features. And after a few hundred miles of enthusiastic driving, I got 28.5 mpg from the direct injection 3 liter. I don't think the 350 is going to clear 25 (but I'd be interested in hearing some real world experience.) Truth is, for most daily driving, you want a car with a nice velvet cushion between you and the road. That's what the GS gives you, with just enough feedback to keep you interested.
  20. I just got my wife a 2006 gs300 awd with 19k miles fully loaded except the rear sunshade for $$32,600. Still yours is a good deal.
