  1. dudes i got an rx330 rental car and it seems faster than the is250

    is it true?

    dang that would suck

Absolutely true. I got one to drive the last time my IS 250 was in for service. It is a pretty quick little SUV.

Here's what Edmunds has on the RX350:

    Performance

    Acceleration (0-60 mph): 7.3 sec.

    Base Number of Cylinders: 6

    Base Engine Size: 3.5 liters

    Base Engine Type: V6

    Horsepower: 270 hp

    Max Horsepower: 6200 rpm

    Torque: 251 ft-lbs.

    Max Torque: 4700 rpm

    Maximum Payload: 1399 lbs.

    Maximum Towing Capacity: 3500 lbs.

    Drive Type: FWD

    Turning Circle: 37.4 ft.

    ... and on the IS250:

    Performance

    Acceleration (0-60 mph): 7.9 sec.

    Base Number of Cylinders: 6

    Base Engine Size: 2.5 liters

    Base Engine Type: V6

    Horsepower: 204 hp

    Max Horsepower: 6400 rpm

    Torque: 185 ft-lbs.

    Max Torque: 4800 rpm

    Drive Type: RWD

    Turning Circle: 33.5 ft.

WELL THEN WHY THE **** CAN'T THEY MAKE THE IS250 FASTER!

GEEZ thats kind of a rip off <_<

  2. For the life of me I can't figure out how the intuitive parking assist suppose to work on my new IS350.

Just a little background so please bear with me.

I am jumping ship to the Lexus from BMW, I am a first time Lexus owner.

The bimmer was great but always had little problem here and there. After I cut my hand on the rough edge under the door side arm rest, i've had it.

The way the parking sensor works on my 745 is that whenever I shift the car into reverse, it automatically comes on. slowly beeps until i get close to an object.

Oh the IS350 i find it a little bizarre, when i shift to reverse, the parking assist does not automatically comes on. It will only activate if i turn it on through the satellite switch on the left side of the steering wheel. Whenever it is activated, i see an annoying green indicator comes on in the instrument panel telling me it's on as if this is a temporary function, or at least the system wants to make sure you know it's on.

I've come up with several guesses.

    1. Maybe I am not suppose to have it on all the time?

    2. I suppose to manually turn it on and off every time i want to use it?

    3. My setting is wrong.

    4. My car is not functioning to the way it was designed?

If i leave it on, whenever a pedestrian walks pass the front of my car, it beeps like crazy. I just find it totally strange, the head-lights are auto, wiper is auto, but this parking assist requires me to turn it on and off every time???

Can anyone help me and tell me how it works on your car?

dude, nobody has that feature but you. you are on your own.

    im jealous though... <_<

  3. Hi all,

I'm going to be test driving a new IS soon and am seriously considering it, along with the Infiniti G35.

    Some questions:

    1. Which of the packages are *must haves* in your opinion? I'm not taking Sport or X as I want a more comfortable ride . Is the Auto-Tilt down side rear view mirrors useful? Are the Mark Levinson speakers worth it over the standard Premium speakers?

    2. Are satellite radios standard? They are grayed out in Edmunds.

    3. Does anyone regret getting the 250 instead of the 350?

    4. How much did you pay for your IS? Did you get it close to invoice?

Thanks for the feedback guys! I will probably be getting this Lex if the test drive goes well.

U MUST HAVE THE NAV. THE CAR IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT IT B/C U ARE ABLE TO CONTROL A/C AND EVERYTHING ON A TOUCH SCREEN WHICH IS SICK!

DONT get the 350 i have a friend who got it and he hates it b/c he said in stop and go traffic he always feels like vomiting b/c he's thrown back and forth from stopping and accelerating at the stop lights

    satellite radio sucks

i paid a butt load im not gonna lie. no where near invoice bro

AND BTW THE LUX PACKAGE IS CURSED! I DID AN EARLIER POSTING ON IT AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE TRUE!

  4. Drive at a consistent speed, closer to the speed limit the better usually, and brake as little as possible.

I agree. Double check your tire pressure before and wouldn't hurt during the trip as well.

I did a quick calculation: If you get 30 MPG (I'm guessing that's normal for 60 mph) you will use approximately 60.5 gallons. If you get 25 MPG (Again, guessing that's normal for 75 mph) you will use approximately 72.7 gallons. With gas averaging at $4.50 a gallon, you would save about $54.51 over the entire trip. However, it would take you an additional 6 hours...

Is your time worth more than $9.00 an hour?!? I think I'd spend the additional cash to get there early. After a trip like that you will probably be suffering from cabin fever.

Note: This assumes the mileage from Vegas to Birmingham is 1,817 (per mapquest) and I have made assumptions on MPH and gas prices. You're mileage may vary!

    dude u rock.

lexuses dont break often do they?

how can i prevent a flat tire?

  5. A mouse pad huh? Do you think the cardboard is going to hold up over time? If your still using the aux. line in, then you have to operate and select the playlists and all from the ipod itself. Can you push and control the ipod in that holder you made or do you still have to pull it out and do what you want, then put it back in?

its super glued together so ya it'll hold up its made from really thick cardboard. i use the aux line but i dont have to take the ipod out

to control it i just drive and click directly on the ipod.

  6. So what did you make that out of? Is that a fabric on the outside? What is the white powdery stuff on the back along the plastic trim? Where are you running the Ipod cable? Are you using the auxilary system or the Ipod interface system?

    Just curious. :)

Looks like it could be a practical idea. I didn't know the blanks bothered you so much. Maybe you could have installed an ejector seat button there, and twin 50 mm cannon switches with a self arming guidance program. too late now..... the Ipod has a home.

the outside is the back of a mouse pad. i glued it on cardboard. the white junk is dust/dirt that needs to be cleaned off. im using the aux and wire runs from the arm rest (still able to close the arm rest) down under my seat from the back, under the all weather floor mats and comes back up to the ipod. its not in the pic but it looks very discreet cant even see it when i put it.

  7. Well, if you don't have those options, you don't have a "fully loaded" car. Sounds like a bit of rationalization--do you REALLY think that they keep production down of these options because they are purposely putting out poor quality product? Man--that's crazy.

I don't have ML, but I do have the Lux Pkg.

I have had no problems with my steering wheel. I do have problems with my tilt-down mirrors, which I will make the dealer fix under warranty when I go in for my next service.

As far as rock chips on the windshield--how often does this really happen? That's why you keep insurance on your car--if there is a repair which is going to be expensive out of pocket, claim it under your insurance.

i mean so thats my point

DUH lexus has the capability of making perfect auto tilt mirrors that work every single time. it's lexus. but what im saying is that since they make so few and its out of the norm to find one and its so rare that they mess up on many of them b/c its not going through the standard assembly line.

but ya if they made more with the lux package and if i didnt hear so many complaints i'd get one in a jiffy.

    lexus rocks. period.

  8. I have an IS 250 that is fully loaded with nav, wood, the works.

but i dont have the lux package or ML with the rear sunshade, auto steering wheel, mem seats, etc

i have heard DISASTER stories from people like:

    1. "My steering will rattles like there's a broken part in it" (this guy has the automatic steering wheel that comes with lux package)

    2. "My ML spits out my discs" or "My ML's sound goes off randomly"

    3. "I had to replace my windshield b/c of a rock chip that turned into a crack and b/c of my automatic windshield wipers it costs a bajillion dollars"

    etc..etc..etc..

SO what I am thinking is that since Lexus makes SOOOOO few IS's with the lux package and ML they make mistakes with many of them...

i think i feel blessed i couldnt find an IS with the lux/ML

  9. I don't think you can get a custom made head unit, I would think you would have to find one that fits the bill for what you want and then make it fit and completely rewire the install. I'm sure you will lose some features, but anything can be done with enouph money.

dude that head unit looks kinda cheap no offense. the OEM head unit matches seamlessly with the dash. im sorry dude but when i think

of non-oem head units i think of junk honda civics. def no lexus.

  10. Hey guys,

Is anyone else having issues with paint chipping? It seems like my car is a magnet for rocks and bugs... all have all these little chips It sucks, cause the IS is a georgeous car!

Anyway, i tried to apply the touch up paint using the paint pen, and it seems to smear quite a bit... I bought it from lexus, and I was wondering if there are any suggestions in applying it so it looks seamless?

By the way, Im kinda new around here this is my car below:

    2007 IS250 AWD

    Voice Activatred Navi

    Blue Tooth

    ML

    Factory Tint

    Remote Start

This is is a hot little number, my friends who drive the 325xi rave about the 250, claim it to be quicker and tighter in turns with less lean... Just a little FYI... it always makes me smile thought it might do the same for you other IS250 AWD owners

dude i hate to burst ure bubble

    u dont have ML

  11. I own a IS 350 and I just had my 15k mile service. They gave me an IS 250 loaner (first time I drove a 250). In my oppinion its way under powered. From off the line acceleration was really weak. I expected some slowness, but the engine just seemed not able to handle what I wanted to do. I have to admit, I'm a little biased here, but for anyone deciding between them.... the 350 supplies me with ample power to drive how I want and fast enough for me. It just feels right. The 250 felt like it was struggling to get up to the speed limit from off-the-line.

Just my 2 cents... if its worth anything to anyone.

    Jeff

ok dude the 350 has too much power. when i drive in the city from red light to red light i feel like throwing up. when i accelerate i get thrown back into my seat...and when i brake i fly forward into my steering wheeling...

the 350 is good for racing and off the light starts....ASSUMING theres not another red light close coming.

250 is more realistic for city and day to day commute.

  12. I have another question but thought I'd start another post since its completely different that my previous post. I saw a picture of an IS w/ the Halo headlights such as the BMW's have. It looked pretty cool. I searched for that topic on here and couldn't find anything.

What is everyone's opinion? Has anyone installed these on their car? How easy is it or should it be professionally done?

Attatched are the pics that I found although I forget where i came across these.

    You probably found those here:

    Halos for ISxxx

I was just looking at that yesterday. It's kinda cool, but aside from what Gaugster said about the copy factor, it doesn't make sense to me to risk permanent damage on lights that are so expensive to replace.

ya dude why would you copy a bmw...its degrading

  13. My step dad who I already feel is a POS BACKED into my 2 month old LEXUS in his driveway today!!! I want to kill him! I prob need a new front bumper!!! Does anyone know any good body shops in the Baltimore area...or if it is wise to take it to the dealership?

    Thanks

    daang sorry
