  1. I live in Atlanta, GA and found a car on Autotrader in Davie, FL. near Ft Lauderdale. I need a reputable Lexus mechanic that would be willing to do a pre-purchase inspection for me. I plan to fly down Wed 12/19 and would like for someone to look it over for me before then. Any suggestions from that area?
  2. After installing the NEW Main Window switch, I noticed that when raising the drivers window (auto) it didn't work on the first click. But worked fine on the second try. (weird). So, the new REAR drivers side window switch came in today and I installed it and I re-installed the old Main Switch . . . . . . and, you guessed it . . . . Wa-La! everything works! I guess just being able to vent here was a help, even though no one was listening . . . . . . . except zieke . . . . ..
  3. Now, the auto mirror and seat function don't work! Dang Gremlin's!!!!!
  4. 2007 RX 350Drivers side rear window will not work from main drivers control. all other windows work. Rear drivers window works from rear switch just not from master switch. So, I purchased a new master switch. But, it still won't work. Now, I've just noticed that the "auto" function doesn't work from the rear switch and the light isn't on either. So, I guess I'm looking at a new rear drivers side window switch?to sum up:rear drivers side window functions with the rear switch, but not the "auto" function.rear drivers side window switch light is not onrear drivers side window does not function from the main drivers switch (new switch installed)opinions, suggestions?
  5. Really? I as able to find help from another forum. I changed the tensioner pulley bearings for about $24. Took me about 30 mins.
  6. My tensioner pulley is making noise.I replaced the rear idler pulley (can't get to the front one), but still have the noise. I've seen a couple posts about it, and some mention a DIY for replacing the tensioner pulley bearing. I can't seem to find the DIY anywhere. Can someone post a link for me? A part number for the bearing would be nice, also. Also, is the tensioner pulley bolt REVERSED THREAD? If not, mine is stuck solid!

  8. I cannot, for the life of me, find any DIY about changing the serpentine belt tensioner on a 2nd Gen RX350. Anybody know where I can find one, please post a link here Thank you
  9. can't find a "search this forum" button anywhere! I'm I that stupid, or is it not there?

  11. Someone may have done this before. Who's idea was it to limit the search terms to 4 letters, anyway? Since we can't search for the word "oil" I'll put this on here. 02 GS300; When filling with oil, the design of the oil fill spout causes oil to overflow when oil is added too fast. The oil goes down around the spark plugs and plays havoc with the ignition. A really DUMB design. My workaround: Realizing that when adding oil air needs to escape at the same time. There is no place to do that except back up through the fill spout. This causes a air-lock and oil can't flow in and air flow out at the same time. I took a straw and inserted it into the case through the fill spout. I cut the funnel tip at an angle to allow oil to flow sideways. This worked great for me. Added a whole gallon of oil at one time and no backup at all. I will try to add pictures . . . . .
  12. Who's idea was it to limit search words to at least 4? How do you search for information regarding "oil", or "air" when it won't let you use a 3-lettered word?
  13. Looking for a new chrome "L" emblem for my steering wheel. Need to find a blown air bag with a good emblem I can swap out. I know someone has blown their airbag. I need it.
  14. UPDATE: the only time I feel the hesitation and shift delay is when I'm easing around a parking lot, going less that 10mph with a lot of stop/starts. I took it to Lexus of So Atl and they said the ECU was really out of date and they did a re-flash. So far I can't really tell a big difference with that either. The biggest thing is that the pedal is extremely light. Just barely pushing it and the car jumps. I have to hold my foot up off the pedal while driving, very uncomfortable. I've still gotta look into tightening the spring tension.
  15. Thanks, I have tried adjusting the cable and it has seemed to help. Look for "GS300 Acceleration hesitation, FIX?"
  16. So, I have had this 1-2 shift delay, and acceleration hesitation problem for some time. I've read some about it on this forum and went through the "usual suspects". TPS checked and adjusted, MAF changed, reset ECU, all to no avail. Then saw something about the Accelerator Pedal Position sensor on a 400. I posted a question if the 300 has one. Must have been a dumb question, I got no responses. So, (I'm so brilliant), I called the dealer and, yep . . . it does, but they really think a lot of them! Anyway, at $403 ea I began to rethink this thing. So, I figured that the APP sensor tells where the pedal is, so it must be connected to the cable going to the throttle body. And, probably has something to do with the transmission shifting positions, also. So just to see what would happen, I loosened the cable out as far as I could (lots of slack in the cable), and drove it. The 1-2 shift delay went away, but I had a lot of play in the pedal. So I began to slowly tighten the cable, maybe a 1/2 to 1 turn at a time until I was satisfied with the response. Now, no 1-2 shift delay. No hesitation on acceleration either. The only thing is the pedal tension doesn't seem strong enough. I feel I have to hold my foot up while driving or I end up going 90+ MPH. I will try to tighten the spring one turn (read that here somewhere, too) and see if that helps. My diagnosis: Over time the cable stretches out and gets the APP sensor out of sync with the TPS. I don't know that it's true, because it's so simple one would think that the Lexus techs could have figured this out. I also think the spring looses tension and causes the "feather touch" pedal effect. So far it performs well for me now. I haven't researched to see what the "Lexus approved" adjustment process is for the cable yet, but will . . . . . . at some point.
  17. My '02 GS300 is suffering the hesitation/lag issues that I've read about on many forums. But most seem to be with the 400 motor. Does anyone know if the GS300 has an APP Sensor. That's the only thing I haven't replaced. I hope someone says yes . . . . .
  18. The chrome emblem on my 2002 GS300 has been scratched. I've been searching for a replacement emblem, but to no avail. I found one on ebay, which is of poor quality compared to the OEM. I would like to find an OEM part, but it doesn't seem worth more than $25-$30. I would really like to find one off of a discharged airbag, cheap. Any suggestions?
  19. I noticed last night that my green "daylight running light" indicator stayed on even though it was night. My headlights worked and brights worked fine, too. Anyone ever have this happen? I'm thinking the control has gone bad. Any ideas?
  20. 2002 GS300 When stopping then accelerating kinda fast, like at an intersection or stop sign, I get absolutely no power. Kind of dangerous if I'm trying to get out before traffic comes. Was told it was the YAW sensor and had it replaced, but it still does it. Seems like it will not down-shift correctly. I played with it in a parking lot last night and sometimes it would do fine, squeel the tires . . . . and other times not. I've also noticed that when moving in slow traffic there is a hesitation between 1st and 2nd. Also, if coasting downhill from a stop (no throttle) I get a hard shift from 1 to 2. Any ideas as to what I need to look for? I've been told that Toyota transmissions are extremely dependable, but right now it I'm leaning toward something there.
  21. I'd like to add a lip spoiler to my 02 GS300 and found these two on eBay. Has anyone purchased these and which one has the best quality look. I'm concerned that the polyurethane material will begin to warp when hot and become wavey looking. Anyone have experience with either of these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...356530&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...916560&rd=1
  22. You know . . . . I don't really know. I've never owned a car this new and warranties were never something I thought about
  23. I bought the car from CarMax (won't happen again) so I don't think the factory warranty would apply. I thought I did try opening the door handle, both inside and outside. But I couldn't get it to come out. I knew there was a way to do it but never found anything in my searches about it.
  24. I replaced the right rear door lock actuator on my 2006 GS 300 today. Here's a PDF file of the process if anyone is interested. http://grcwebsite.com/RR%20Door%20Actuator.pdf
  25. HELP ME FIND THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT DIY THREAD!!!! I know I've seen it somewhere. Some guy has pictures and everything. Got my acutator today and need to put it in but I'm having trouble finding the thread again.
