  1. The car started acting funny again today. I took it in, they gave me an 08 RX to drive and said it may take up to 11 days to fix the ES. Definitely off to a rough start with my first new Lexus.

They were very nice about the whole situation though.

  2. Update: The lights were on because the Air Fuel Sensor went bad. It will take over a week to get the part. They said since I live in Indiana - I can drive the car while I wait. Translation - Indiana doesn't have any air quality standards! :)

  3. After driving my ES for a couple of weeks I have a question about the brakes. They feel quite soft, which I have heard is normal and that Lexus uses soft brake pads. How long do the brake pads typically last (I realize this varies greatly depending on driving environment and driving style)? What are others experiences with the brakes and or pads? I predominately drive in the city, but not aggressively.

    Thanks in advance –

(Also - at 310 miles, my check engine light/VSC light and a red exclamation mark came on... I have an appointment for this today.)

I've officially had more issues with my Lexus than I had with my Prius in over 20k miles. :) Not worried though...

  4. Looks like I found my answer in BusinessWeek -

"This ES 350 also isn't particularly youth-oriented. The average age of buyers is 56, a year more than for the Cadillac CTS. By contrast, the average buyer's age is 42 for the BMW 328i, 43 for Nissan's Infiniti G35, and 45 for Honda's (HMC) Acura TL."

  5. Most of the people who I know, who have seen my 350 have first made the IS comment and then said "Oh, I thought it was the one that looked like a Buick." I am surprised you have never heard anyone say that..... although if I had the 330/300 maybe they wouldn’t feel as free to say it looks like a Buick? They are all very sharp cars - so ultimately it doesn’t matter. Clearly from this site, there are many people who like the 300/330 better than the 350.

  6. I was certainly not trying to be offensive. Clearly, the 330, LeSabre and LaCrosse have the same demographic. I think the 350 will definitely broaden the range of consumers who are/will be interested in the Lexus line, especially the ES model.

(I will make sure ‘LeSabre 330’ is never spoken again) ;)

  7. In one word - unsightly. I think they make the ES look more Lucrene'esk than need be. I wouldn't recommend them....

They are reminiscent of the LeSabre 330. The 350 is finally pulling out of Buick design territory - don't regress! :)

  8. I have owned my 08 ES for eight days now; the common question that is posed when my friends first see the car is - "Why didn't you get the IS?" I turned 29 on the day I picked my car up (completely coincidence) but I started to wonder what the average age was for owners of the ES, more specifically the 350? I test drove the IS twice, and did not like the car at all.

Just curious as to why I am hearing this question so often. Not that I really give a rip if they like the IS better, just shows I have better taste! ;)

(PriusChat had 'Polls' that contained this information - but I could not find this info when I searched this forum.)

  10. One of my favorite things about Lexus is that they do not put 'trim' and 'moldings' all over their cars. I love the doors without anything on them - I think it would ruin the car to put any type of moldings on it.

Whenever I see a car with 'moldings' I immediately think a very 'mature' person owns the car. Nothing against ‘mature’ people, but that is what it makes the car look like to me. IMHO
