If you don't use a bulb of the exact brand and type, it will likely be a different color than your other headlight.
Found that out the hard way I had to buy another one today.
what kind are you looking for? i have a few at the house
Do you still have the OEM HID Light for the GS 300 1998?
nope, sold it.

thats sick. looks like a lot of wrench time is needed to make that converison. I think it might grow on me....
nah its a direct bolt on with the vertex kit. panda has one, 2 guys in japan (one being a red drift car other is the vertex one) and one guy in hawaii has one

to replace my fogs and highs though do I need the entire kit that Sakataj provided an Ebay kit for or should I look for just bulbs for my highs & fogs?
My DRL are not as blue as the pic I posted. Closer to purple leading me to believe maybe 6000k Highs & 4300K fogs will provide the best combo.
Thanks guys.
So my best bet would be to order the entire kits from Ebay's nissangtr or getting something like these?

mrsypher,
I noticed your car has the nav package, meaning that it should also have the factory HID, right?
If yes, you're right, you only need to buy the bulbs, don't need the whole kit. AND, tell them you just need the D2R Philips Ultinon stage II (stage I will be same as the factory -- beats the purpose of changing them). If it's out of stock, check other shops, and be patient. Some shops may tell you to settle for D2S bulbs, and tell you it's the same as D2R. <<WRONG!>> First of all, they look very similar, but they are so much different!
D2S bulbs are only for cars with projector headlights, like the SC430, Audi, BMW, etc... It doesn't have the cover shield to reduce glare for oncoming vehicles. The fitment bulb base is also different. You'll need to modify the base for perfect fitment. EVEN that, the focus is WAY OFF... The light is not focused at all... your light will be brighter on the shorter length, not far away as normal.
Remember, don't ever settle for D2S, no matter what they tell you, just be patient.
Check these places:

Good luck!

I am just trying to find the most cost effective way to replace my highs and fogs. From the post I pulled off CL it seems I do not need new ballasts...however those kits on EBay are so cheap. Would I need the ballasts to replace my fogs?
Im fairly set on 6000k highs/4300k fogs. Keeping the lows as they are.
Comments?
yeah get a kit like i linked or one from the other link

NOOOOOOOOOO PLEASE DONT TELL ME THAT!!!!! DAMMMMITTTT really it didnt fit?? :o

I got a 99 GS300 w/ 133000 miles and use 5w-30 Mobil 1 high milage oil w/ mobil 1 oil filter. I was thinking maybe I should switch to 10w-30. What about you guys? :)
if your motor calls for 5w-30 run, 5w-30.
y would u wanna change? i actually used to run 10w-30 mobil 1 on my gs but went back to 5w-30 on MY gs recently. yes, i had a reason for this too btw but its not worth it
-
I did not inherit the gs and i am not 20, i am well into my 30's . i am looking for mods that will improve mpg as well as better performance that are not too expensive. any sugestions?
yea i got one. go buy a wrecked Toyota Tundra from an auction, the one that has the 5.7 Lit V8 engine. take that engine out and put in your GS300. You might have to change a few parts.. ECU, engine mounts etc... but you gonna have the fastest GS300 out there!!! some serious V8 power there!!!
and man have you seen the headers the toyota tundra got?? haha and thats factory!! and please dont get me started on the exhaust that car comes with... sounds like scary !Removed! monster!!!
imagine if you had all that in your GS300!!!
:::ssssghh:: If only I had the time and the money!! :(
ACTUALLY its been tried....the 5.7 is to big to fit. the 4.7 fits though
-
Did you get the 3000K for your fog lights? I was also looking to change my fog's to HID's as well and to me, the yellower the better lol.
if u want yellow get the 3k kit dude is selling for 70 bucks. cant beat that although i would make sure its not some POS korean kit
-
Don't sell your oem one as you'll want it back.
Intakes that suck air from behind the rad or engine bay are just rice.
You loose power and gas but will impress your friends with a nice sound.
SK, u forget as the gs becomes cheaper and cheaper you will see it riced out more and more often with all these kids under 20 buying them or inheriting them

Again...thank you for the replies fellas...I plan on parking my car just before Christmas. Around spring time I will need my 60K service @ which time Ill unload and replace my highs & fogs...

this is the guy i have used for the last 6 years, you can pick your bulb/temp and its the same price
http://myworld.ebay.com/nissangtrpower/
as a matter of fact i bought replacement bulbs from him this morning. (i scrapped my front end and i broke my foglight and bulb)
my replacement bulbs were 29.99 for the pair
his kits are only 103.99 BUT his shipping is like 41 as everything comes 2nd day aired FROM JAPAN so its not a bad price. 140ish and its at your door from japan in under 3 days

2005 GS 300. ML package, Factory Nav.
Hello,
From the searching I have done it is my understanding that 2nd gen GS300's did not have HID options.
However I have read a few other things that lead me to believe I do. Unfortunately I bought my car as a trade in and know little about it.
It was modified slightly by the previous owner whom Ive had no contact with. (Custom Door panels, aftermarket system -which was removed @ trade in)
The reason I ask is my headlights do have the auto leveling feature. So when I turn them on I can see them rise and set into place. They are quite bright white w. a hint of blue. It was my understanding that the auto leveling feature went hand in hand with the HID system.
Was this an option on my car? Im sure I read that only the 430's had this option.
Previous owner must have changed out the bulbs on my inner two lights as the bulbs are blue (not sure of K) but the high beams look normal. I forget what they are called..I know one of you will wise patrons will know that in a second.
One of my high beams is out. Can a mechanic tell what watt bulbs had been replaced with by previous owner...for some reason he stripped the bulbs he put in the fog lights also so I need to get new bulbs for those.
I apologize if any of this is vague & for the lack of pics....camera crapped out on me a few wks ago.
Regards
HID's WERE an option on the gs300....standard on the gs430. if u have HID'S u have auto leveling....
ALSO HID'S arent measured in wattage....so no mechanic cant tell you wattage. HID'S are measured in kelvin temperature. if they oem i think they are 4300k.
just look up your bulb type and temp and replace it yourself. DONT take this to a dealer. i have HIDS factory in my low beams and aftermarket in my highs and fogs. easy to replace

Get a Balance, usually that's the problem.
no its not....
try these posts...
(p.s. i have tried balljoints, brakes, alignment, road force alignment, tires, and now that i have aquired them...i will be doing my bushings in the next few weeks)

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...adjustment.html
p.s. easiest and allegedly the best fix is the daizen steering rack bushings
here is a DIY for it

2 days and $368.75 later, lexus found out that my issue is the Blower Motor Control (part # 0-87165-22050). The cost for this part is $280.54 (before tax). The diagnostic test claims the problem is the Blower Controler Unit but they also mention the Blower Motor Control. I'm not sure if these parts they are mentioning are the same but I will call back to find out. They claim the Blower Motor Control is not working and it may need the servo motor but they need to replace the controler to first as a start. All together, this may end up costing me around $1000 :cries: The only good part is that if I do choose Lexus to replace this for me, they are giving me a warrenty until Dec 2012.
Any thoughts?
.........buy a used one from a junkyard for probably $100 install it yourself and see what it does.... they should also be able to tell you if the servo's are working now and not AFTER they install that part

I don't think its good to wash the engine, might mess up some kind of hardness. i've seen it happen to other cars, but idk. that's just my opinion.
just make sure its cool and there are no problems washing the engine
-
just use the stock sub opening to place your port... but it also depends on the type of box you're going to use... You can port through the armrest but you'll have to cut through that metal beam shown in the pics...
um.....u could JUST unbolt this beam instead of cutting through it you know
-
I know in the LS, the gas tank is behind the rear seat, not sure about the GS though. Might want to look under the car first to make sure the tank isn't anywhere around the back of the back seat before cutting around....
um, a few things. one he wants to cut into the area where the rear armrest folds down. so he would be cutting into the leather to go INTO the trunk, not into the floor. 2nd gas tank on gs is UNDER back seat
similar to something like this
