  1. I just oredered a "Swingaway cargo holder" by Stowaway2. (see www.stowaway2.com for details). Basically, it is a cargo holder than connects to the tow hitch receiver.

However, the company told me there is a problem having it fit in the tow hitch receiver--becuase the OEM hitch receiver does not meet standard dimmensions.

More specifically, there should be atleast 3.5 inches between the spare tire and the safety pin hole located on the "stinger" (this is what is actually inserted into the tow hitch receiver)

On the 2004 LX 470, there is no more than 1.25 inches.

The company told me they can make it fit onto the Lexus by cutting the end of the stinger, to accomodate it to fit, without the spare tire getting in the way.

This is a known issue (hitch receiver not up to standard specs) with many Lexus and Toyotas, according to this company.

I called up a UHAUL place that attatches receivers...they said the same thing.

    Any thought.

  2. Was at a VW store yesterday getting a new phone for wife. Did not see the v710....they told me they are not allowed to see it again until the software/firmware update is out---which i was told is Friday.

The mgr of the store is supposed to call me then to tell me if the updates have addressed the Lexus bluetooth issue.

  3. not a big deal.  if it were me, I'd keep the dunlops until they wore down, then switch to michelins.  assuming I'd be the "typical 470 driver", I'd get the michelin cross terrains.

knowing that I'm not the typical 470 driver, I'd get either the nitto terra grapplers or the goodyear mtrs. :D

Never heard of that Nitto Terra tire. Is that an ulta high quality tire????

  4. I asked my dealer yesterday that very question...."some get dunlops, some get michelin" is what i was told.

I have driven both on a Sequoia...thought the mich. cross terrains were actually much more quiet and more aggressive.

    Just my opinion...

When its time to change these tires, Ill be getting michelin. For whatever reason, dunlop just does not seem to have the reputation...dont know why though...maybe its unfounded.

  5. Looking around for after market dvd set for 2004 lx 470. Was referred to a place from our Lexus dealer, and they carry a product brand named Myron&Davis.

Does anyone have any info on this brand...are they "top of the line"????

  6. For the stock tire size for the 04 or 03 lx 470, has anyone replaced tires with a different brand other than dunlop??????? If so, which brand did you use????? I am having trouble finding tires in this size (275 60-18).
