  1. 2004 lx470

lately, when going over 65 mph, i experience a rough ride...bit of vibration throughout the cabin, including floor and steering wheel.

Tires have been balanced, without relief

Car is being looked at again (lexus can not really reproduce it of course in their opinion). It is in dealer for 30x service (800$), and I was just told the front brakes need replacing and the rotors are warped a bit (600$ for basic front brake replacement and to grind the rotors a bit)

    any thoughts?

  2. Finally getting fed up with anemic power of lx 470. Called four Lexus dealers...all of them say they can not get a supercharger, simply because they are not being made right now.

I was under the impression that some people are saying that they are out there...

Can someone clear this up for me??

  3. if that bbb link does not work...do the following:

    1. go to www.bbb.com

    2. under "check it out" reference tab in the upper left of the page, click on "bussiniess"

    3. Under name (there will be a green dot marked here), type in "1sourceautowarranty"

    4. Click on the name "1sourceautowarranty" under the results tab---it should be the only result that pops up from the search.

    read the report...........

  4. Lexus can not tell you something is not covered under warranty because of something that MIGHT have occured. Its simple. Get a hold of the rep and take it arbitration if you must.

I just took my 2004 Toyota Sienna Limited to arbitration becuase it kept drifting to the left badly......service kept saying it was fine. So, I asked for arbitration....he drove it....pulled to the left badly....now I am getting a new 2005.

The point is, dont let the service dept of any dealer be the end all of solutions and opinions. Be proactive.

  5. Three of us spent a good two hours getting the spare tire off the truck the other day, trying to get access to some other parts of the truck.

We followed the 04 lx 470 instruction book to the letter.

Finally, I called up the dealer (quite frustrated and upset...afterall, doing this in 20 degree weather for over two hours and getting nowhere was not all that fun!).

Guess why we could not get the tire to lower??

The instructions in the book are WRONG! It tells you to insert the "hook" end into the little cup, through the rear bumper access plate. Come to find out, that is the outdated instruction. You dont use the hook end at all...you use the silver metal end with the hex-like key to do it.

The dealer confirmed that the book in indeed wrong...

So, I hope this post helps someone else in the future.

p.s., once we used the right adapter end getting the tire lowered down, it took us less than 30 seconds to do it!

p.s.s. my dealer was very very helpful over the phone. Afterall, at first, they must have thought me some sort of babbling idiot....untill they realized the instruction book is wrong. They treated my very nicely through the whole process.......another reason I am glad I have a Lexus!! They even offered to have someone drive to my house to help!!!

  6. My 2004 LX 470 replaced my Sequoia. The ride quality difference is simply incredible. However, I do miss the storage capacity I had in my Sequoia when going on trips/vacations, etc.

We used to use the "piggy pack", a large storage device installed on the roof--too much of a pain though to get at.

I finally installed the Stowaway2 (see stowaway2.com)...took me a while to get it installed, but now I have the extra storage room I need on long trips, etc. It installed on the rear hitch receiver. If anyone wants to see pics or has any questions, let me know. I figured I cant be the only person here that downsized to the 470 and might be missing that extra hauling/storage space.
