  1. check the fluid level and any leaks. I had the similar problem before now it is much more obvious that my pump is most likely faulty. check out the thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=42618. Good luck man.
  2. Thank you for the reply, a link or suggestion of a place where a rebuild kit can be purchased from would be appreciated. Thanks.....
  3. Hi guys, I'm new here and very impressed with this forum. Having problem with my 1990 ls400 p/s pump (assuming). Pump was making noises and steering was hard at idle and low speed but worked at high speed, so I checked and filled it with ATF fluid (reservoir was empty). Now the noise went away but left me with a dead steering (very hard) at any speed and circumstances. Also now new problem arose: I need to jump the car everyday (battery seems to be ok), is it the alternator? I've been reading some posts here, and seen lot of the members having similar problems, so I'm guessing a leaky pump causing problem to alternator and hard steering feeling without the noise this is right then I wanna rebuild a p/s pump. This and few other forums keep talking about the rebuild kit, I'm guessing a local Lexus dealership sells the (power steering rebuild kit), if not please some one tell me where to buy a kit. So guys, anyone with similar problems or those who has the knowledge and expertise please keep this post going and try to simplify the p/s system functions and take care of the problems that are due to the faulty system. Thank you and good luck to all of us.
