  1. Hi My tire contact (in Toronto) also suggested 205/55/16 size (on a awd is150). I was a little surprised as I thought they might be a little narrow and was thinking of going with a 215/55/16 package. I am open to all ideas. How do you find the Dunlops? Any comment on the ride difference between the summer (225/45/17) tires and winter? How are they holding up after 1 season.

    Thanks

What size are you going with alfaderek? I may be able to help you out with the price of winter rubber.

    Welcome to LOC btw.

  2. I just got my ES serviced at the Lexus dealer over the weekend....unfortunately they did not have a 2010 yet.....I am going to check it out once they do have them in stock though.

Steve...specifically what are the 'major' interior tweaks? Anything on the dash besides the nav?

  3. Hey guys i bought a 92 es300 a couple months ago. The car drives great however i am getting 13mpg in 90% city. I am babying it so it should be getting much better mpg's.

These are the things i have done so far:

    - New Fuel filter

    - Spark plugs

    - Rotor/Cap

    - set timing to 17

    - leaned out the afm 3 clicks

    - New o2 sensors

    - Checked the ecu there are no codes

Any ideas what i should check/replace?

A couple more related (and inexpensive) tune up items to replace....the air filter & PCV valve. Is your tire pressure correct? Besides the spare tire & related items....any heavy stuff in your trunk?

How many miles on the car?

  4. Hello, my 04 es had small trans. leak. Took it in to the dealer, said the trans. had to be re-sealed. Looks like they replaced the bolts and a new gasket. Car has 66000 miles, I got the extended warranty, so it was free, also got to drive a is 250 AWD, that was fun. Anyone else have this problem? How often should I change trans. fluid and to flush or not to? Thanks for any info.

    Tim

My tranny pan is dry as a bone....and have not seen many on here with a leak for our generation ES...but glad the repair was covered.

I do a simple 'drain & fill' every 2 years or 30k miles.....I use Amsoil 'Universal' Synthetic ATF which is compatible with Toyota Tyie IV fluid.....it's excellent stuff. More info here...

  5. Wondering if I was to increase the size of my all seasons and get say 19" or 20" wheels/tires on my 2004 RX330 (currently on 17" stock aluminums) whether it will significantly reduce fuel economy and or snow traction?

    Thanks!

    Steve

Chances are a quality set of 19 or 20" rims will weigh a fair bit more than your stock 17's...not to mention the added weight of your related rubber so yes there is a good chance of that due to the increased unsprung weight.

All season tires are also known as '3 season tires' and for good reason (whether you live in the GTA or not).......I would suggest at the very least a set of 'all weather' tires which are different than all seasons, or a full set of quality winters on a seperate set of rims.

Smart move if you want to get larger rims for those 3 seasons is cool.....keep your stock 17's for a good set of winter rubber.

  6. I would suggest Brembo blanks if they make them for your model year. Having said that if this is your first resurfacing at 43k miles......that's not bad for the OE's. Do you take your foot off the brake pedal slightly & let the car roll forward a bit at a stop light & especially after a hard stop? This will help cool them down.

  7. i did my rear brakes, took off the gross aftermarket chrome rims that were on them.i want to do a simple tranny drain and fill but firestone told me not to do it since im not positive when the last owner did this change and it could damage the tranny.how much would a throttle body cleaning cost? and if cel on the dash means dash lights lit up,just my abs light is on.id also like to do a tune up(plugs and wires at least)

You should be safe to do a simple tranny 'drain & fill' & replace the drain plug gasket......I wouldn't suggest a complete 'power flush' though.

Throttle body cleaning should be under $100...as far as a full tune up, I'd recommend plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter & PCV valve. Once that is done, see how the car goes. B)

Any idea what is wrong with the ABS system?
