  1. I recently had a p/s pump leak which caused p/s fluid to drip everywhere. I got Gunk engine cleaner but I'm nevouse to clean the engine because of all the sensors...ect Any help?
  2. Problem solved I chaged the seals on the pump. I had to go to lexus to buy the seal kit
  3. My mechanic was looking at my GS because we thought the P/S pressure hose was leaking. It turns out that the leak is behind the pully on the pump itself. The questions I have are: Would getting a new seal kit fix the problem? Or, should I get a new pump given the age of the car? Would anyone have the instructions on how to change the P/S pump?
  4. Check the Power steering fluid it may be low or you might have a leak in the P/S pressure hose
  5. Check the Power steering fluid it may be low or you might have a leak in the P/S pressure hose
  6. BIG Thanks SRK!! Talked to my mechanic and it can be fixed at shop like you mentioned. It's gonna save me tones of $$ Thanks again... My mechanic said "Why didn't I think of that" which is now my favorite mechanic quote...haha to funny
  7. I'm looking for a power steering pressure hose for my 99 GS400. I've been to the dealer and they want $980 for the part, apparently the dealer only sells the pressure hose as "one piece" (meanning you get all power steering hoses) when you purchase this part from them. Does anyone know of a good place to purchase just the p/s high pressure hose by itself?
  8. Thanks for the reply! Checked it out here is what i found: -Looked at alternator and there was a unconnected wire co I re-connected that. -Started the car and still nothing. -Listened for the compressor sounds like it comes on for a second, fender fan at the front starts then stops. Cold air begins to come out when first turned on. -Checked the RPM when turning the AC on reves higher when the AC is firsttuned on.
  9. I just got my alternator changed on my GS400 - Solved all power issues I was having. However, when I got the car back I used the AUTO function on the AC/HEAT to maintaine a certin temp. When doing so the AC light just flashes and no cold air comes out. I've checked to ensure that all pully wheeles where turning and there wasn't to much slack on the belt - All checked out fine. The AC worked before the alternator was replaced ...... Any ideas
  10. It all started when my car died at a red light, by died I mean no power what so ever, couldn't even shift gears. Got it towed home. Investigated a bit and i noticed loose battery connections (Bought new + and tightend the -) - Power came back for 10min or so then died. Car wouldn't start or even attempt. Took battery to get charged, hooked it up and it worked for half a day or so then started acting up - Clock dimming, battery light still on dimming as well, windows slow, all power messed up. I've done some reading and think it might be the alternator. Onother thing is a while back my fule guage stopped working( needle stuck at E ) I put gas in it and still didn't change, it wasn't until the second gas up it started wrking again?? And also, when I reverse when the car works there is a click noise from the rear of the car when it gos into gear.. Any suggestions?
  11. Thanks a lot bro!!!! I'll check that out and post my findings....... Thanks once again
  12. I got my ball joints and tierod (one side only) replaced on my 99 GS400. The ABS,VSC,VSC OFF lights have been on ever since the maintenance. I've read on other forms that it could be the ABS sensor disconected or broken? However I'm not a mechanic by any means, so does anyone have any idea how to verify this without a scan tool? Another thing is when I switch the GS into reverse or 2nd gear (mannual or automatic), I hear a click/snap noise coming from the back wheel (i.e turn car on, switch gear - CLICK)?????? Any ideas??????
