  1. I had the same thing happen ofter an oil and air filter change. Go to Auto Zone ond get the codes, then come back here and put the codes in for a search. I was told that I needed over $1200.00 of repairs and it turned out to be the hose coming off of the air filter which I fixed myself. This is the best site and everyone is here to help...
  2. Please let me know how easy this is. I just noticed that my "D" light is out also. Anything I can fix myself is a plus. Did some research on the threads, but still alittle spooked...
  3. You might want to read the General Lexus Forum... Section on Lexus Extended Warranties.
  4. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007...settlement.html I found this to be interesting, it says 8 yrs and 120 days...... Good luck
  5. This Kid knew that when you change the tranny fluid you had to drop the pan for the extra fluid. I had just read that on this site, and that impressed me. Your trans. failed after the flush??? What's a flush? Don't tell me....... I had the fluid changed after reading all the info @ 87K WOW 330 is low cost. I think they quoted
  6. Thanks, for the update. One of the guys @ Midas is from James, so every time I go I request him. I often thought about James Toyota but had no info on their service dept. I'll call or stop by to talk to them. I'm not in financial position to cough up right away, hoping to hold out. Is that called a hail mary. Did they do your TB? Approx $$$?
  7. Great, just call me the Green Lantern. I have 92K and in reading the post it looks like I might be heading for a timing belt. I take it to Midas for all the oil changes and they just put on all new rotors and pads. The rear pads were no charge due to their life time warrenty. Cost $700. The only problem I've had with them was when they put in a new air filter that hose poped out and I got vsc and cel lights. Read all the info on this site and corrected that problem. They suggest a new H2O pump at the same time but from what I read the may not be necessary. What do you think? Any thing else I should watch out for?
  8. YUP, But what purpose does that serve? I kinda like the bright light. I only put back 2 top screws until I decide. Please tell me it's just cosmetic........
  9. Yuppi, Got it off with some gentle pushing and got the light out. Now for a good cleaning. Mikey00 and LexKid630, if you ever come to Flemington NJ, coffee is on me. I LOVE THIS SITE. THANKS.
  10. Well got the other 2 screws from the bottom, still won't come off, but I can flex it forward enough to get to see the light housing. How does that light come out? I guess long nails don't help either. Maybe I'll just run to Autozone to get light and see if they can get it out. Thanks again.
  11. Thank you so much for the info and pic's. I'll see if I can get the other 2 screws from the bottom, and get back to you.
  12. Thanks, I got 2 from the bottom and 4 from the top, but I'll go look again.
  13. Hi there. Does anyone know how to replace the light going to the ashtray? I have removed the 6 small screws on the front console, but can't seem to get it to roll forward far enough to get to the wires. I'm not that handy but follow instructions well. It's a small thing but my OCD won't let this go. Any help? Thanks Pat 2002 RX300
  14. Good Morning, and it is a good morning 'cause I just fixed my 2002 RX300 this morning and saved over $1000. and then some. This board ROCKS Monday morning my vsc and cel went on. Panic.. now what. Got to work and one of our clients, who is in the auto repair business, says he will take the car and diagnosis. He comes back and tells me that the vsc sensor ( or something like that) has to be replaced and that he ordered the part from Lexus at a cost of $753. and he will need the car for 4-5 hours. I said "Can you cancel it, this car just came off of warranty, I'll go put up a fight to get this covered."I hate car repairs, I feel because I'm female I don't get the full story. Anyway I'm not feeling real good and then remembered this web site.. Logged on and the 1st entry I see is just what I have !!!! So I start reading, reading everything.. Codes? What are they and how do I get them?? Oh here's the answer Autozone. Off I go to Autozone expecting to get codes p1135 of p1136. I get there and he says p0440, p0441, and p0446. GEEZZZ, what is that.. Young kid say "needs new gas cap, come on I'll get you one". OH no.. let me think about it. Now I'm going back to work cursing myself for not buying a gas cap that I'll have to make a second trip for . Damn, why didn't I just buy it. Go back at work, log back on and do a search for p0440. BINGO. A hit.. Read his problem and then read the 1st response. Nope no help. On to the other one. Read the response, YES I just had my air filter changed, YES, I have all 3 codes. Grabed my car keys, popped the hood, and OMG there is the hose from the air filter and there is the tube!!!!! Shoved my hand in there and reconnected. Followed the instructions on disconnection the (-) lead on battery and restarted the car! TA DA ALL BETTER. THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING. I feel like I won the lottery. If I had the work done, who knows where that would have led. Again Thanks to all Pat Gallagher
