  1. Does anyone have any suggestions for replacing the 1997 LS400 HB, LB, and Fog Lights? What type of lights put out the most coverage and look the best? White Blue ect..... Also how big of a deal is it to DIY?
  2. Its a Lexus they last a long time if it has been well maintained. Check the blue book price and give it a thorough inspection. If it is within the estimated used car price range and it passes your inspection. Go for it....
  3. I recently purchased a 1997 LS400 in great shape. I noticed that the coolant level was down about an inch. Not knowing better I poured a small amount of green Prestone Antifreeze into the reservoir to return the level to full. Is this a major issue where I need to drain the coolant from the car? I just read here on the forum I should have used the Toyota red antifreeze coolant.
  4. I am looking for struts for my 1997 LS 400 and saw them advertised on Ebay from parts avenue for 34.99 plus freight. Is this the company where you bought yours? Thanks..
  5. My local Lexus dealer, Superior Lexus in Kansas City MO, says they use Quaker State Synthentic Blend oil when they do oil changes. I am not sure if that is true for all Lexus dealers. I have not been able to find that particular type of Quaker State oil at my local auto parts shop here in K.C., but I am probably just not looking hard enough. It might be a good idea to see what kind of oil was used by the previous owner, if you can, so you can continue to use that same kind. It is really pretty easy to do the oil/filter change on these cars if you have a little mechanical ability and some basic tools. You can save yourself a lot of money if you don't mind spending a short amount of time doing the work. Thanks for the response and I will see what I can find out and keep the oil types consistent. This is the first Lexus for me. I have owned several Infinity's and have been pleased with them. This car will be used mainly for business travel so I didn't want to buy a new one and lose the depreciation for the mileage I travel. If I like it I plan to upgrade my wifes Infinity to a newer model in a year or two.
  6. I am looking at a used 1997 LS400It with 135,000 miles. It is available for 9k. Is this a good price for this car. It has always been dealer maintained and is a one owner. The timing belt was replaced at 90k and they have all the maintenance records. Also what type of oil does the dealer use and can you purchase it at an auto parts retailer?
