  1. I have a 2000 GS 300...I'm looking perhaps after the holidays to re-do my interior speakers and also purchase and in dash (not flip out) unit to replace my factory radio. i have already purchased a portable navigation system and it works great (garmin). i do not necessarily need a unit with navigation but if it comes with it and it is a separate slot for the navigation disc then i will gladly give up my portable unit. Any input would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

I have had a Pioneer AVIC-D2 for a while now, and I love it. It is a great unit. There are newer versions out there, but they all use the same map discs for the most part. And you can get it for much cheaper than the new ones. It is not a flip out, though. It is a full touch screen that folds down and behind the screen is a slot for the navigation DVD as well as a slot for CD/MP3/WMA, etc. You can get the XM or Siruis tuner if you want, but with XM you can get XM NavTraffic, which is pretty cool. You can hook an iPod to it, Bluetooth, rear camera, etc. It is worth checking out in my opinion. Also, in my old Lexus, I had Eclipse speakers all around and they sounded beautiful. Hope this helps.

Do you happen to know what sizes those speakers were? Impedance, size, everything? and do you know if the first gen GS and second gen GS have the same size speakers?

    Thanks,

    ~rob

  2. the 1st gen will be my next car and ineveitably my fastest car. the OBD1 onboard computer allows for a simple transition from stock to a supra block, intake manifold upgrade, race exhaust manifold, and sc400/supra rear end. good luck with your project

    thats what ur planning?

do you think you could send me links on some of the products you plan to get for a 1st gen Gs 2jzgte transition?

  3. Well this is goodbye!

My father took away my rights to drive any of his cars from the previous incident of the speeding ticket.

So as of today, my privileges of driving his cars are done. I'm off of his insurance policy.

    Later all!

    God damn...

that sucks a lot. How old are you, 18-19?

    Get your own insurance policy.

    I'm 21 now and i've had my own since i was 18.

i'm sorry to hear that, but don't say goodbye, i'm sure you'll be back soon enough

  4. i think a lot of people think its tacky BECAUSE lots of people with civics and such do it to make their cars look a little better. Regardless of the car, I feel its kinda cool to have light shine from the undercarriage and if civics and such are entitled, why not us?

Don't associate the look with their cars. Think of how it would look on yours.

but ur right, it is everyone to their own opinion

  5. dude 4000$ seems like a very good price for that amount of miles. i own a 95 gs300 and i love the thing (i paid 5K for mine, but mine is a 95, with grey leather interior, and touring edition black). The only problem you'll have i think is that if it has the stock radio, there might or might not be a cd changer and even if you have it, you can't play burned cds in it. But on a good note, it comes with a factory amp and sub already installed as part of the sound system! And no, it didn't come standard with chrome rims, so be happy about that.

come on. if you're 19 usually anything with wheels will do. So if you're rollin with lexus baller status, how can you go wrong? :D

    hope you get it

  6. Damn you Mr. Police man!!!!!!

    80mph in a 50mph zone!

It's a new car to me dammit! I don't have the feel of it yet =[

Any cops in the North Brunswick area that might want to help me out? I'm flat broke from spending too much money on books =[

If your driving record is clean then take the ticket to court. Plead guilty and ask for Probation Before Judgment. PBJ if the judge gives it to you will basically will be a warning and as long as you do not get another ticket in the probation period, that way the ticket will never even show on your record. This will help you out an awful lot as far as insurance rates.

I agree it is very easy to speed in a Lexus...I have got stopped a few times...my advice if you get pulled over is to be extremely polite to the Police officer...he is just doing his job...and if you do go to court the judge may take the officers opinion as to whether or not you should get off on the ticket...by the way there is nothing wrong with asking the cop for a warning he may laugh at you but hey it is worth a try. I was pulled over leaving BWI and got smacked over 80 in a 55. When the officer asked me the famous "do you know why I pulled you over"...just looked at him and said "yes sir you got me" Handed him license and registration told him that I was sorry that I was speeding and guess what he gave me a warning. It will not work all of the time...but why not give it a shot. I am not going to kiss the cops !Removed!...but after all I was speeding he is doing his job and why would I be disrespectful to someone who if they want can cut me a break! This has worked many times for me...and if it doesn't...when I am in court and the judge ask the cop what he thinks he surely will not remember me for being a smart !Removed!.

    lexirx,

i don't beleve they have the Probation before Judgement in NJ. Every time I've ever gotten a ticket ( i was a very immature driver ) you go to court and plea bargain. Jersey has the option of making any ticket no matter how many points a no point violation if you pay the 250$ extra. So a ticket that would cost you 95$ and 3 points on your license becomes 0 points, but 460$!!! (court fees and others are added). You can only do this times, once you go for the fourth, they automatically take your license away for 6 mon-1 year. NJ sucks...sucking drivers dry through insurance, tickets, fines, tickets, insurance, fines...

But i also agree don't *BLEEP* off your cop, he could be awesome and mad cool (alot of cops are young and just as stupid) or he could be an uptight douchewad. Just be truthful and polite, you could get off with a warning (it also helps to have women in the car, cause cops wanna look cool saying "i'm giving you a warning this time...but if you do this again, we'll get you." FYI if you get a female cop, you're done. Flattery doesn't work cause they think you're undermining their authority and playing on femininity and treating them like anyone else means you aren't acknowledging the fact that they've found a job in a society where women aren't accepted and treating them with the utmost politeness means that they think you're trying to play to that feminine maternal side and they won't buy that...

yeah, just a bad deal when that happens

  7. yep north brunswick was where i got my first ticket too... *BLEEP*ing !Removed! police over there

but i was in a corolla and 17 at the time :) that was just me bein stupid

but i agree with dcfish, its so easy to speed in lexus', you can't even tell the difference! and with the 2jz, 60mph is where 40mph mark is in most other cars lol.

  8. as to insanity, i believe it is the foregoing of social sense, our group presence as humans. A universal dismissal of our unspoken and unacknowledged bond we have with all our fellow men and women. Without it (while insane), we are adrift without a moral compass. I agree with smooth that religion is not necessary for positive moral alignment but communication and intermingling with others I feel is the best way to maintain stability and not succumb to insanity.

Taking pleasure, knowledge, ideas from the people around you (whether good or bad)= personal sanity/life/fulfillment

Being alone, feeling the presence of no one, not taking personal joy in anything= INSANITY

    but thats just me...

  9. yep, its all about that inner contentment

    book suggestion:

    The Tao of Pooh

very relaxing and enlightening read :)

As someone who hasn't quite figured out his own inner insanity, i'm glad that others who have, or at the very least believe they have, can share their perspectives so freely...

even on the lexus forums lol

"In a clear and crisp voice, Hoff explains the central tenets of Taoism and further illustrates them with familiar excerpts from The House at Pooh Corner stories, Chinese proverbs, maxims, and tales from Lao Tzu and others. The result is at once thought-provoking and charming. This is a small literary event that will leave all who experience it a little more serene." Library Journal
