I was told by the dealer that the MAF sensor on my car was bad, they wanted to charge me 1200 to replace it so I did it myself. the part was 350 from advanced auto for a rebuilt. I replaced it but the same problem happened. (i get the car started drive it for a little bit.. maybe 2 miles... and the car stops when I stop at a light or the rpms drop low, when I try to restart the car it just keep cranking but never turns over.) The dealer told me earlier that if the MAF didnt work then the ecm may need to be replaced, has this happened to anyone else? what do i do? let me know if there is anything I am leaving out that may help in diagnosing the problem. NICE! thanks ill look into the UK forums for that. im not much of a gear head so hopefully this is easy. does it really take them 2.5 hours of labor to replace a MAF?

Does anyone have any reccos on where to get a used or aftermarket MAF sensor and/or ECM? I seem to be having the same problem that a lot of the others on this board have had with my 92 sc300. (hesitation, not starting, dying out at low speeds or idle...) The dealer has told me that its most likely the mass air flow sensor and if that doesnt work then we have to replace the ecu. I dont have 1K and possibly another 2K to spend on my car that I got for 5200! Any suggestions or solutions are greatly appreciated! or just reccomendations on where people go to get parts would be great too! James

Hey Maner, I am having the same problem with my 92 SC300, the dealer wants me to replace the MAF sensor too and he said that "this is the first step" and it will cost me close to a grand! THEN he said if that doesnt work we need to replace the ECU which is closer to 2K! How did you solve your problem? what happened? I could use some advice because i dont have any cash to spend on the dealer throwing parts at my car. Thanks!
