You are right. I broke down yesterday after doing over 8hrs of research on this tire and BOY i tell you are they right. You would think lexus with this luxury car will atleast have this sort of tires on these car or ALL their cars for that matter. This tire is great!!! The damn michelin that came with the car was too NOISYYY.... Even my old '94 ls400 tires i think were way better than the michelin. Anyway if any one is looking for a brand new michelin tire contact me and i will sell it for you REALLY cheap.

Just like the subject said. Who has it on their ls430 and what can you tell me about this tire. I want something that is QUITE and Smooth.

Thank you for that info... I believe this is stock rims that came with the '02 ls430 so i am guessing it is 17". How come TireRack don't carry the Yokohama Avid V4s 225/55/17.

Does anyone know where else i can find these tires.

Also what about the Yokohama Avid H4S 225/55HR17. Will this be as good as the v4s?

Well looked at tirerack and all they have is the Yokohama Avid V4S "225/60VR16" with Serv. Desc: 94V/97V. Will these fit into the '02 ls430.

What about 225/55TR17 Yokohama Avid T4 Blackwall.

Ok i have searched and still looking. Just too much info to decide which one to get. I have gone to several tire places locally and came acros these:

1) Yoko AS430

2) BF GoodRich Traction T/A

3) Sumitomo SRIXON4

All these tires are p255/55/17. So can someone pitch in and give me feed back. BTW, there are all seasons and is going on an '02 LS430.

There is a lot of information on tires throughout the site, especially the wheels and tires section. You'll get a lot of good information. I chose the Yokohama Avid V4s and they are great!! I've put about 3,000 miles on them so far. I did my research and it was between them and the Toyo Proxes. I chose them because that had a higher traction rating and I got them at a cheaper price. 2) Last but not least, i am sure there are tips and tricks on this car. Where on the net can i find these tricks. According the the book it says to go to lexus for that information.

As most of you will remmember i was in a hunt for an '00 LS400 or an '01 ls430. As luck might have it, i found the perfect one. An '02 LS 430 with 75k miles and the asking price a whoping $28k. I had to leave work ASAP to check it and and returned with the check. And today i already have the Tags here with me. Car drives and handles like brand new. BTW, i also got the extended warranty from my bank for this car though i doubt i will use it.

YEP!!! it is much bigger than my '94 ls400. And this thing can fly. I think i need new set of tires soon. Ohhh i just got inspection done (PASSED!) and then got the TAGS ;)

What a beautiful day so far. Now i have to go to a meeting from 12pm->4pm :(

CHeck the VIN,  find out it's service record............

This is most likely a real "highway cruiser" so should be in good shape if serviced regulary.......

You are right. Mostly highway and he was asking for $28k. Picked it up and boy i must say this is way better than the ls400. Man i can't wait to figure out all this new gadgets in this car.

what sort of problems will an ls430 with 70k mileage have?, btw it is an '02

Ok guys i need some help. I am heading to Mayhem Pennsylvania auction tomorrow. I will be looking for a '99-00 LS400 or an '01 LS430. What are some things that i need to be looking for when i start checking these cars out on the lot?

Mobile virus infects Lexus cars

Lexus cars may be vulnerable to viruses that infect them via mobile phones. Landcruiser 100 models LX470 and LS430 have been discovered with infected operating systems that transfer within a range of 15 feet.

"If infected mobile devices are scary, just thinking about an infected onboard computer..," said Eugene Kaspersky, head of anti-virus research at Russian firm Kaspersky. "We do know that car manufacturers are integrating existing operating systems into their onboard computers (take the Fiat and Microsoft deal, for instance)."

It is understood the virus could affect the navigation system of the Lexus models, it transfers onto them via a Bluetooth mobile phone connection. It is still unclear whether the cars in question use the Symbian operating system which has recently been under attack from various worms and viruses.

"At this stage it's still early but it just goes to show that technology has consequences," said David Emm, senior technology consultant at Kaspersky. "It's scary stuff."

Vulnerable operating systems are increasingly moving onto a number of different devices. Last year the Slammer worm infected 13,000 Bank of America ATMs as a result of them moving to a Windows-based operating system.

"I've even seen screenshots of major commercial aeroplanes with Windows 2000-based operating systems," said Mikko Hypponen, director of anti-virus research at Finnish firm F-Secure. "Cars are an obvious target for viruses. It's okay if you don't use the operating system for the engine and the brakes, but when you do..."

Bill Gates is a known Lexus driver. In 1999 he auctioned one for charity.

When contacted Lexus declined to comment.

Is the navigation system in the '00 DVD and how much is it to get an updated version of the maps. Also can the same DVD in lets say '01+ ls430 be used in the '00?

look at this picture of circuit board (93-94 LS400):

C212 (16v/10uf) will be the one needed to be replaced. however, if you have 90~92 LS400, then there is no C212 on board according to lexls.....

so for example the one that says c212 i will go to radio shack and get 16v/10uf capacitor to replace it with?

come one....20+ view and no one know of an issue...ie is it easy to change the oil in these car. I can do mine on my '94

Ok so i am thinking about getting a used '98-03 LS400 or a used '99-04 LS430. What are some issues about these cars. I know it is a pain in the you know what to find parts for my current '94 ls400 am i still going to have issues with both these cars. All you guys with both please give me some feed backs.

what are some major difference between the '94 ls400 and either a '99/00 ls400. I think by this time next year i need to make a move. Current ls have over 215k miles.

Ok on about 3 times now i am driving and i am about to stop at a light and the car cuts off. I put it on park and start it again and it starts and no problem anymore. I recall this happening one time before my starter died? Is this the sympton again or is this something having to do with the fuel?

Ok before i start to crawl under the car i would like to know where or what part of the car the oil filter is located and the oil pan bolt. What side of the car do i need to jack up to get at it.
