  1. Gerry, I think you'll find the difference between your hybrid Camry and the ES 300H to be like night and day... The advances that have been made in the CVT and braking are big ones, and the car drives like a regular gas powered car... The car definitely has a mild "CVT effect", but it is much easer to modulate the accelerator and feel changes in acceleration. In the power mode, the effect is minimized, as the hybrid system provides more power. The response is very close to a non-hybrid. I've had it for 6 weeks, driven 1000 miles, and averaged 36.8 MPG in very cold weather, with daily 3 mile trips to the LIRR parking lot. My last round trip in to NYC, about 75 miles, averaged 43.7mpg on a warm Sunday..... I'm very pleased with the car at this point, other than the Bridgestone tires (personal preference), and the fact that they discntinued the adaptive headlights that I had on my previous two ES 350s. The HID headlights have height adjustment, but no motorized side to side movement... Nonetheless, they provide adequate light to the front and sides, so this is a relatively minor point ... Any comments you hear about this car "not driving like a hybrid", are accurate. Lexus did a great job on the entire car... EBM
  2. Same here... I traded in my 2011 ES for a 2014 ES300h Thursday night... Car is great ! 36mpg after only 85 miles, and it keeps increasing! Ride and handling is much more sport oriented than the 2011. Dispite many comments here re the Premium sound being sub-par, I do not agree ! With the proper tweaks, streaming Miles, Boz, or Jimmy Thackery over MOG or Spotify puts a big smile on my face !!!!! Nice job, Lexus ! ... Now if they would only stop using Bridgestone tires .......
  3. Check out bimmerfest.com. BMW has been using RFTs for years, and many owners swap them out for non RFTs. RFT or not, BMW's mobillity kit or the Dynaplug repair system and mini pro inflator will provide a way to repair a flat, in some cases, without removing the wheels. I bought both for my wife's new BMW X1.... (Yes, I know she'll never use them!) Wish the damned thing had a spare tire ... RFTs are a royal pain, from my perspective... www. bimmerfest.com www.dynaplug.com ( or buy their stuff on Amazon...)
  4. You have to pair the Bluetooth Audio piece separately from the phone Bluetooth connection... When in Bluetooth Audio mode from the car, click on Connect, then enter the passcode displayed into the phone (in the pairing mode). It should connect ..... Your phone's USB connection is for charging and data sync. Probably does not support audio streaming. Most don't. Try playing some MP3 files from a flashdrive to see if the USB audio works.
  5. I picked up an iPhone 4 from Verizon last Saturday, and am using it with my 2011 ES-350 with Nav. Pairing took 30 seconds Transferring the phone book took another 30 seconds Voice quality is perfect... Bluetooth Audio is poor so far. It plays 2-3 songs, then starts alternating between music and silence every 6 seconds or so.. I've had Bluetooth audio problems in this car with 4 phones so far, so I don't think it's the phone... Also, with the iPhone, I do not have access to Speed Dial when the car is moving, and when using Bluetooth Audio, the track and folder selections are not visible on the screen... My 5 year old razor and 3 yr old Blackberry provided a higher level of compatibility, so I'm not too happy... yet..... EBM
  6. I've been looking for a suitable OEM Sirius tuner for my 09 ES530 since I leased it last year... I decided to stay away from the current Sirius Toyota tuner and adapter since I read that the manufacturer, Directed Electronics, is no longer producing these for Sirius. As of my last service visit (8/09), my local dealer claims that there is a "new" Lexus OEM Sirius unit that can be installed in the trunk like the existing XM unit for $650 installed (yikes !!!!) Is anyone familiar with this? If so, can you please provide me with a part number? I'd like to install this myself, if it exists... Thanks, EBM
  7. It has been on .... I'll turn it off and try again.... Thanks ...
  8. Just got a Blackberry Storm, and cannot figure out how to pair it to my 09 es350...; Following the instructions in the manual - 1. Press the Info button 2. press "telephone" on screen 3. press "settings" on screen 4. The screen display the settings for the phone already paired, but the"Add Phone" button referred to in other posts and the instructions is nowhere on the screen. I'm sure this is a simple thing to do, but the Nav Quick Start guide seems to have the wrong instructions listed. TIA EBM
  9. My dealer's finance mgr. reports that the XM factory kit is still available, but has indicated that there will be some new products after January 1st. He specifically mentioned that Lexus may provide a solution to the either/or scenario between Satellite Radio and Ipod factory integration. If they offer a fairly priced option that includes both, I'll be the first on line !!!
  10. Peripheral Electronics has an interface and HD Radio tuner that can be installed. It also offered ipod integration using the steering wheel controls. www.peripheralelectronics.com PXAMG and HDRT. A quiet car is exactly where you WOULD hear the difference between regular FM (limited s//n ratio, high compression)and HD, which is comparable to CD quality sound (100db s/n ratio and less compression of source material).
  11. Check the "Heating Issues" post on this site... It sounds like a similar problem..... Coolantlevel may be too low to circulate thru the heater at idle.
