  1. Hey Ladies and Gents,

My 98 GS300 is ticking and my mechanic told me it is the Engine Valve where the noise is coming from. You guys ever had the same problem? And if so, how much was it to fix the problem?

    Thanks

The ticking sound could be from the direct fuel injectors at each cylinder. At idle in park the noise may be heard, but as you drive you should not be able to hear it. If you still hear the ticking as you drive and it gets louder as the rpm goes higher, then it could be the valves or something else.

  2. I also noticed that the lexus cargo net works also as a elastic item holder as well as a net to hold things flat to the floor. I know on my 99 gs3 there are d-rings on the trunk floor but no anchor up high to use the net like a bag style between the tail lights. Am I missing some anchors around the tail light? Should the net be used with the d-rings under the speaker shelf? Again there are d-rings on the floor and not up high. Looking forward to all the helpful comments.

  3. My front passenger door speaker on my 99 gs3oo cuts in and out. I would like to know if this problem could be a head unit problem or an amp problem. Where is the amp located? Is it the door speaker problem? Has anyone experienced the same problem? Thank you for your help and comments...

  4. Thanks for the info and the links to ebay...Is there a way and place where I can purchase the tube and connector for the modification without cutting the air box and use the air mass sensor as is. I would like to keep the mod reversible back to stock if possible... Thanks

  5. Thank you for finding the correct 06 toyota picture. My reference picture at toyota.ca is not the car in the car commercials in canada.

A lexus owner will appreciate the qualities and the toyota owners will always aspire to own the qualities and status of a lexus.

Example, the camry is the sister to the es300 as the gs is the brother to the avalon.

I'm just disappointed that similarities between the lexus and the toyota's are becoming so close.

I take great pride in owning my lexus and I do not like lexus counterfeits made by the parents. If the similiar car was made by another company, I would not hesitate to trash that company. But beause it is in the family,"No Comment".

There will always be a group of potential lexus purchasers that will buy toyota to save a buck and to buy a good counterfeit.

What's the difference between a Rolex and Timex copy? One person knows he has it and the other knows he really wants it.

  6. I would like to ask fellow 2nd gen gs owners whether anyone has tried the tire size 245/50/16 on factory wheels? How's the handling?

Some of the tire sites use 7.5 inch width rims for specs and others use 8 inch width rims for specs.

I do not mind going to a lower profile with out effecting the over all handling and balance of the car. Will the 245's fit in the wheel well without mods. With the 245's the width will increase by 2 cm (one inch) and the overall diameter increases by 1.5 cm (half an inch). Will this size work?

The reason I am asking is that pirelli has the p-zero nero m/s tire that i like but it does not come in a 225/55/16 size. The closes size is 245/50/16.

Thank you in advance for your comment. Looking forward to all your comments.

  7. The o6 gs is a great looking car with all the right features a sport luxury car should have and need to attract present and new gs owners to buy.

My concern is how lexus/toyota is marketing this new car. In Canada toyota is advertising the new toyota avalon on tv. Essentially the new body of the avalon is the same body of the gs. I was considering a purchase of a new gs, but I would prefer the gs to be more different. The profile of the two cars are essentially the same. If I was to pay 70 to 80,000 dollars cdn for the new car, I would be totally disappointed if I was mistaken by a comment like " Nice toyota", "nice Avalon".

To most people that are not die hard lexus fans, will get the two cars mixed up. Toyota should have released and marketed the gs first to elevated the gs above the avalon as flagship icon cars. Now when you buy a gs, it can be construed as a avalon copy not the other way around.

I was looking forward to seeing the car and purchasing one, but now I have decided not to buy one at this time. I feel that my second generation body style is still more exclusive. My decision to purchase my gs was largely made on the fact that the car was unique and exclusive. Now the new car is a copy of a toyota avalon.

I am disappointed by the actions and decisions of lexus to allow the gs brand to loose its percieved exclusiveness...

I hope someone from Lexus or Toyota is reading this comment and can comment and prove me wrong.

  8. We managed to get our hands on the Lexus Press Kit from the Detroit Auto Show

Some really nice pics of the 2005 GS300 and 2005 GS430 - they can be seen in our Lexus GS Gallery

There were also pictures of new 2006 GS300 and 2006 GS430, which can be seen in the same gallery.

Some choice pics of the new GS.

  9. I have 99 GS3 with a stock sound system with numbers and symbols periodically appearing and disappearing.  Do I have a loose connection, bad display?  What can I do to repair this? Is it something I can do myself? Can it be repaired?

Does anyone else have this problem?  Looking forward to your comments...
